CHAPTER 8

DHRUV'S MANSION - NANDINI'S ROOM

While entering her room, Nandini was talking to herself.

Nandini: "What does he think of himself? That by doing this, we are now even?"

Navya: "Who are you talking about?"

Nandini: "Who else? That Volcano. (Navya gives her a confusing look) I mean, your boyfriend's best friend."

Navya: "What! Don't tell me you fought with Manik again."

Nandini: "What do you mean 'I fought with him'? Can't you see my dress? (Navya still looks confused) Okay, I accidentally spilt juice on him, but he purposely poured some on my dress!"

Navya: "Hey bhagwan (Oh, God), Mata Rani (Goddess), thank you we are leaving this place today, or else these two will definitely kill each other."

After that, Nandini and Manik went back to their respective houses. Navya and all of Manik's friends also returned to their own homes.

NANDINI'S HOUSE - SATURDAY NIGHT

Nandini was in her room, and her Amms came to her to give her something.

Amms: Kanna , there is a letter for you." (Amms gives the letter to Nandini, and she opens and reads it.)

Nandini: "Wow, Amms! I got a job offer as Junior Fashion Designer at Manu Fashion House!" (She says, happily hugging Amms.)

Amms: "I am so happy for you, kanna. Now you will definitely become a famous designer."

Nandini: "Yes, Amms!"

Amms: "When do you need to join for the job?"

Nandini: "Coming Monday, Amms."

Amms: "Okay, now get enough rest, as I am sure you must be tired after travelling and all. By the way, how was the marriage? Did you enjoy it?"

By hearing that, Nandini remembers all her encounters with Manik, from the road incident to the juice incident.

Amms: "Nandu (Nandini's nickname), where have you lost yourself! I am asking you, kanna." (Nandini comes back to her senses.)

Nandini: "Yes, Amms. Now I am sleepy, so good night, Amms."

Amms: "Good night, Nandu."

After Amms leaves her room, Nandu has a talk with herself.

Nandini: "Aiyappa , why? I mean, why am I even thinking about him when I don't even want to see him?"

PARK NEAR MANIK'S HOUSE - SUNDAY MORNING

Normally, Manik goes for jogging early in the morning, as he was not able to do so for the last six days while he was at Dhruv's mansion. While he was jogging, he saw a girl standing with a dog at the park, and he stopped. He remembered Nandu standing in the middle of the road with a puppy, and a smile appeared on his face.

That girl: "Why are you smiling alone?" (With that question, Manik comes back to his senses.)

Manik: "No, nothing." (Manik continues his jogging.)

MANIK'S HOUSE - DINING HALL

After jogging, he went to the dining hall for breakfast. His usual, or I should say only, breakfast was orange juice and bread toast.

Servant: "Sir, your breakfast!"

When Manik saw the orange juice, his memory lane once again went back to thinking about Nandini and their last juice encounter.

Manik: "I don't want orange juice, so bring a coffee for me!"

The servant was shocked because during his first day on the job, he had made coffee for him without knowing his morning menu, and Manik had just thrown the coffee mug away. Today, Manik himself was asking for a coffee.

Servant: "Sir, are you sure you want coffee?"

Manik: "Wasn't my order clear for you?"

Servant: "Yes, Sir! I mean, sorry, sir, I will bring it for you in two minutes."

With that, the servant went to the kitchen to prepare the coffee, and Manik was having a self-talk.

Manik: "Why do these things remind me of her when I don't even want to see her in my life anymore?"

MANU FASHION HOUSE - MANIK'S CABIN

MONDAY, 20TH JULY - 9:00 AM

Manik was in his cabin, and he called Aman to his cabin.

Aman: "Yes, Sir."

Manik: "Aman, do we have any meetings or anything else today? You know I haven't been around here for a week, so just in case I forgot something!"

Aman: "No, Sir! We don't have any meetings, but yes, our new junior fashion designer should be joining today."

Manik: "Okay, but where is she? Didn't you send her the working hours as well?"

Aman: "Yes, sir, I have sent her all the details."

Manik: "Let's see what time she will come in then."

MUMBAI - A BUSY ROAD

Today is Nandini's first day on the job, and she left her house sharp at 8:00 AM for the 9:00 AM office. The way to Manu Fashion House from her house was having heavy traffic due to a truck breakdown. So, she is still stuck in a traffic jam.

Nandini: "Aiyappa! Why is there so much traffic here? I thought I would go earlier and impress my boss, but now what will I tell him! It will be a lame excuse to say that I'm late because of a traffic jam, and that too on my first day."

MANU FASHION HOUSE

The time is about 9:30 AM, and Nandini enters the fashion house. She is amazed by the environment there; it's so beautiful, and in fact, it would be the best place for a designer to sit and come up with wonderful designs. Finally, she reaches Manik Malhotra's cabin, and she knocks on the door.

Nandini: "Sir, may I come in?"

Manik: "Yes, come in." (Manik says this without looking at who is at the door, as he is busy looking at his laptop.)

The moment Nandini enters into Manik's cabin, and when she saw who her boss was, she becomes speechless. When the person who just entered his cabin doesn't talk, Manik finally looks up to see who it is, and he is shocked.

Manik: "Tum? (You?)"

Nandini: "Woh... (Uh...)"

Manik: "I know you were following me, right? But don't forget! This is my fashion house, so get out now."

Nandini: "But Sir, I am here for the job!"

Manik: "WHAT! Do I look like an idiot to you? That I will give you a job, and that too in my Manu Fashion House?"
