I walked back to my room, holding the note still not believing what I was being told. I laid the letter on my bed and grabbed my phone. My parents didn't have a lot of money, so I only had a flip phone. Own neighborhood wasn't the greatest. It was run down, many people left each year. The houses her small, rotting from the outside in. They front yards were all dead grass, filled with kids toys or beer bottles. I didn't mind it. I knew one day I could make enough money to get out of there. Buy a nice house for my parents on the beach, somewhere they could retire.
One month they used all their money to buy me a dog. A white husky with bright blue eyes. I named it Alfred. After Batman's butler. I was obsessed with batman. I love Alfred with all my heart. The only way to get food without paying for it, was buy hunting which most people in the neighborhood did. All the houses backed a thick forest, a prime hunting spot for everyone. When I was ten my father took me out there with Alfred and we leaved how to hunt. Together we killed so many animals we started selling them at a low price around the neighborhood. I gave the money I made to my parents, but kept a little for myself. Now I had around two hundred dollars from it.
As I opened my phone, I first called my best friend Nevada Ruth. I was born the same house, same time as her. We have been friends since birth and will continue too. She was smaller than me, with curly auburn hair. She had the darkest green eyes. Her face was decorated with freckles. When she was five her father walked out on her and her mother. It was hard for all of us, but he sent them money annually. It was enough to help them survive. Her mother worked the streets, meaning Nevada was always home alone. A year ago, I guess she snapped. Had a complete mental break down, left school. I went over to see if she was okay, which she was. But she was severely depressed, she said only my cheerfulness was making her stop herself from dying. She moved in with us for a while, until she was better. She slept on my floor. To me it was like a sleep over, but to her it was a rehab of some kind. She wrote much in her time away from school. Each night she would share with me, they were very dark. But I liked them, cause she did.
As the ringing stopped, Nevada's voice came threw.
"What do you want? It's ten at night." She sounded foggy, she had just woken up I could tell. A little pissed, but the same her.
"I have something to tell everyone. Go to the spot in an hour." I was excited to tell her, but it had to wait. Telling everyone together was easier.
"Whatever." The phone call died. I looked out my window to see her light flash on. A smiled crept on my face.
Next I searched for Dunstan's number. He was a local boy too. One of those funny guys you always see in the high school TV shows. Though his look seemed to change over the summer. Taller, a bit more muscular than before. Hair turned light brown matching the color of his eyes. His face stretched a little down, a sharp jaw. Every girl wanted him, but no one understood him like we did. He was in one of the poorest house on the street, dirt covered his face every time I saw him. But the smile never went away. Nevada hated him, seeing as he was light and she was basically always dark. Dunstan had no parents, but was the middle kid of three. He had an older brother who cared for them, work to make money. His little brother was only two years younger, he normal went off to play with the other kids everyday. They were happy family, even with no parents. One of the happiest families on the block.
The ringing stopped and Dunstan sprung threw on the other line.
"The Cameron residence, sorry but our butler couldn't answer the phone. So what can I get for you?" I smiled how at the letter.
"Go to the spot in an hour."
"I feel like were in a spy movie. Yes, I'll be there James Bond." He had one of the worst fake English accents in the world.
