Sarah pushed Toby through the door and slammed it.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, A BABY?!?! YOUR SIXTEEN, TOBY!!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING???"
"I'm... I'm sorry, Sarah"
"Damn right, you're sorry! Look, I'm gonna support you and Sam through all of this, but... why were you having sex in the first place??"
"I don't know, we j-just..."
"Well?"
"Sam's parents are out of town, and you were on a date with David, and one thing led to another, and we, it just, it just sorta happened, I guess..."
"You guess? Toby, this is not what you do when your alone at sixteen! You watch a movie, have dinner, go to an amusement park, go for a romantic walk...."
"I get it!! Ok?? I get it. It was a mistake, it was wrong, but you can't just rub in my face what I can or cannot do with my girlfriend!! We will do what we want, when we want!!!"
"Uh, no you won't!"
"What do you mean by that?!"'
"When you see Sam from now on, there will be an adult in the room-"
"What??"
"Don't interrupt me when I'm speaking!! Now, you won't see her past nine, or anyone else for that matter, You are to be here, with me, if I'm out with David, Jeremy will be here to watch you. Now, your grades have never been an issue, but all research for the paper will be done here... You have to attend Physical Therapy for your shoulder at least once or twice a week at an office, and everyday here. I can add or remove things from this list at any time, is that clear??"
".... No, no it's not clear!!! Sarah, that's a little unfair, don't cha' think??"
"Unfair? Unfair??? You wanna know what's unfair?? That Sam has to cut away anything she wants for herself and her teenage girl needs, and give it up for a baby, at sixteen. It's not fair that Sam's poor parents have to explain to the rest of the family, and the school that their daughter is pregnant with her best friend's child... It's not fair that you have to become a parent so young, you never had a chance to decide if Sam's the one. It's not fair that the first time, I'm assuming, you did it, it was faulty protection, or something-"
"We, uh, forgot protection...."
"Wait, wait, wait.... WHAT???"
"There wasn't any in the house, and I wasn't going to buy any, in case I ran into you, and Sam said she didn't care, just as long we were careful, and I guess we weren't careful enough...."
"Toby!! You don't just 'not use' protection!!! That's just asking for a baby!!!"
"I know that! She knows that!"
"Then, why Toby? Why didn't you just stop right there?"
"We were caught up in the moment!"
"Ah, Toby, just, you are only sixteen!"
"I know, you said it three times!! I know how old I am, Sarah!!"
"Well, maybe you should act like it, then!!"
"I'm sorry, I thought you said you were gonna 'support us'!"
"I did say that, and I will, once we get this, this thing straightened out!"
"Well, I don't want to get anything 'straightened out' We'll be fine with or without your support!" Toby stormed out the door, and walked angrily towards David's apartment, seems how he couldn't drive, or ride his bike because of his shoulder. By the time he was almost there, his anger melted to sadness. Tears started to run down his face, no matter how hard he tried to blink them back. He knocked on David's door. At first, there wasn't any answer. Toby knocked again, harder. "David, please answer. I need somewhere to stay... Sarah and I had a fight, and I won't dare step foot in Sam or Josh's houses, Jeremy's too far away, and your the only one that understands me. It's always felt that way, ever since you came here. I need you, David... You are like a second father, next to Jeremy, and an older brother to me..."
"I'm here, Toby..." Toby hugged David with all his might, and he returned the favor. David invited him in for the night. Toby told him all about the fight, and prepared the guest room for him. David called Sarah, but she didn't answer. "Hey, Sar, it's me, Toby told me about everything, and he's staying over at my place... Just wanted to let you know, so you don't have to worry anymore. And, who knows, this kid might not be all that bad after all... See you later, lo- *clears throat* Bye!"
