Toby's POV
Today's should be a normal day at school. Sarah's volunteering today, as she does everyday. It's nice having her at school with me, even if our school only has five kids in my class. It's just, ever since Mom and Dad died in the car accident, Sarah's the only person in my life that keeps everything together. Only like, two people really talk to me, but that's ok. I have Sarah, and my dreams always make me feel loved and protected. But now, I feel that sense of protection even more since David showed up. He even wants me to call him by his first name! I guess he's just trying to fit it faster I guess. But how can you not fit in when the entire school has a total of thirty kids? Our school only has six teachers, one for each grade. (This is a high school with grades 7- 12) Mr. Mcloughlin (Sean) teaches music and gym. Mr. Fischbach (Mark) teaches science. Mr. Kite (Laovaan) teaches art and social studies. Mr. Kjellberg (Felix) teaches math and reading. Mrs. Faye (Amanda) is the Librarian and Mrs. McKnight (Mindy) teaches home ec. I'm in Sean's class. He's really fun. He has so much energy and is super enthusiastic. His Irish accent is really thick, and his green hair shows just how Irish he is. He just gets so fascinated by the different musical talents there are out there, so I guess he teaches the right things. I like all my teachers though. They're all really kind to me. But David just got here, and he treats me as if he already knows me. It makes me wonder if my suspicious are correct. What if he actually IS Jareth? I dunno. Oh look, it's Sarah. "Hey Sarah!"
"Oh, hi Toby! Hey listen, I totally see what you mean about David looking familiar!" Just then, David came up behind us.
"Who do I look like?" Sarah blushed.
"Oh, uhh, just an old friend." What was that, Sarah? You never blush or stutter! That's it. I have a plan! I smirked at Sarah's awkwardness. I looked over at David. He was grinning ear to ear. What was he so happy about? My plan shouldn't be so hard then after all.
"Toby, don't you have to get to class?" David looked at me like "yes you do, get outta here!"
"Uuuh, yeah, actually! See ya!" I didn't really have a class so I just hid behind one of the book shelves and listened to David's and Sarah's conversation.
"Do you like it here?"
"I suppose. It's really small, but I like it."
"Yeah, the place grows on you after a while. You get used to having students call you by you're first name. Everyone cares about each other here. And while not many people talk to Toby, he has a couple of friends. Samantha and Joshua hang out with him a lot. Nobody could separate those three, and I think Sam and Toby are getting closer..." David chuckled. I blushed so deeply that Sarah and David would be able to see me clear through the book selves.
"I hope that turns out well."
"Yeah. me too."
Jareth's POV
"Oh, Sarah!"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think I could have a list of the books you've written? I would love to read some of your work!"
"Yeah sure!"
"Oh, here's a pen."
"Thank you." I watched Sarah write down the list. She folded up the paper.
"Thanks! I'm really looking forward to reading these!" I unfolded the paper. I read through the list. One of the titles caught my eye. Labyrinth. I'll have to read that one first. I looked at the bottom of the paper. It was Sarah's phone number! Already, she wants me to call her! I feel like a hormonal teenage boy... very much like Toby actually. Haha. I already have plans for those two. I went over to Toby. "Thank you for covering for me, Toby"
"No problem David! And by the way, there's nothing going on between me and Sam!"
"Ok, ok." I smirked at him.
"I mean it!"
"I said ok! But if you ever need advice, you can always talk to me"
"Alright, but there's nothing going on!"
"I believe you! But I have a question for you."
"What?"
"Do you have a copy of Sarah's book Labyrinth?"
"Yeah, I have a copy of all her books. Why?"
"Oh, cause she gave me a list and Labyrinth's the one I wanted to read first."
"Oh, ok! I actually have a copy in my book bag, hang on!" Toby unzipped his bag and handed me the book."Thank you Toby!"
"Your welcome!" I was walking back to my office. When I got back, I sat down and opened the book. There was a dedication inside,
"To My Goblin King, even if you were a dream in real life, You will always be real in my heart."
