Apartment

I tossed and turned next to joker uncomfortable. Glancing at him I could tell he was comfortable and soundlessly asleep. I sighed out as I uncovered myself suddenly feeling hot. I groaned silently as I got up and stumbled to the bathroom. Running the cold water I splashed it on my face. I studied myself in the mirror and turned to the side. "Damn.." I mumbled. "I must be eating too many donuts.." I chuckled a bit as I rubbed my tummy which was just a tiny bit out. My face scrunched up as I suddenly felt sick and rushed to the toilet. Pain shot up inside me as I threw up. "Ugh.." I groaned as I got up with a disgusting taste in my mouth. I washed out my mouth as I was startled by joker. "Are you alright doll?" he leaned against the doorframe yawning. "Did you puke?" he asked looking over to the toilet. "Yeah but im fine now.." I said flushing it wishing I could also flush the embarrassment down too.. "Cmon doll lemme get you back to bed.." He took my hand gently and pulled me to him rubbing my back. I crawled in bed next to him as he held me tight.

I woke up just a bit soar. Glancing over to the digital clock I realized I was late. "Crap!" I mumbled as I rushed out the door and to the car.

"Lex im so so sorry I got sick last night and I overslept!" I nervously said rushing into the office. "Oh its completely fine Eva!" his words were swift and calming. I sat at my desk across from lex who was sitting at his reading a newspaper... Who reads newspapers these days? "But are you alright?" he questioned me looking up from the paper which was titled The Daily Planet.. "Yeah yeah im fine..." I mumbled as I tiredly rubbed my eyes. "Ok.." he whispered as he turned the page. "Oh yeah congratulations by the way!" he smiled to me. "Congrats on what?" I questioned him. "Oh on adopting your new sister!" His words were quick and made no sense. I gave him a confused look. "What?" he stood up and brought the paper to me. On the page read in bold letters 'Bruce Wayne: Adopts New Girl'. I took the paper from him. "Bruce Wayne Adopts Christina Nicholson (16 years old). Christina was so excited to be part of the family and is already starting to work at wayne enterprise!" I read out loud. Anger shot up inside me as I turned the page again and read outloud. "Batman Has New SideKick?" the title read. "Through the streets of gotham the infamous Batman now accompanied by The Batgirl?" I snickered angrily and slammed the paper on the desk. "i-I im so sorry I thought you knew?" Though lex's words were swift they came out as a question . "No, no its not your fault. Me and my dad aren't on good terms.." I sighed as I drew on a notepad desperate to destract myself.

My stomach turned, not in pain but uncomfortably. "uh um excuse me one sec.." I stood up and rushed out the door, down the hall, and to the bathroom. I busted into the first stall I saw and puked. One hand held my hair and the other gripped the stall wall railing. "Dammit.." I groaned uncomfortably...

I walked out of the stall to rinse myself off and clean up. I took some paper towels drying to water off my face when it hit me.

No.. I couldn't be.. Could I? I was probably just sick.

I shook my head of the thought and left the bathroom back to the office. "You alright Ev?" lex asked leaning against my desk. "Uh yeah just uh had a-" I stuttered. "Makeup emergency that's all!" I smiled to him as I lied. "Well Eva I don't see why you bother your gorgeous the way you are!" he placed his hands on his hips with a plastered smile on his face. "Thanks." I awkwardly mumbled. I didn't ask though....

I nervously twisted my engagement ring on my finger. Lex looked down at it, his smile quickly fading. "Oh your uh engaged?" his lips were in a thin line and he twitched his eyebrow as he raised it. "Yeah Joker asked me yesterday." I smiled awkwardly. "Oh I uh see.." he trailed off. "Well congratulations.." he huffed before plastering a smile on his face again. "I uh have a meeting to go to.." he trailed off again as he glanced at his watch. "Ok.." I sighed sitting back at my desk alone in my thoughts..

I got into the car my thoughts still bothering me. "You alright doll?" joker asked as he sped out of the parking lot. "Hmm? Yes? Yes! Yes. Yes I am!" I gave him a thumbs up. He chuckled as he turned left when he was supposed to turn right..

"Uh jack.. The hotels that way?" I said turning in my seat and giving him a confused look.

"Oh well we aren't staying in the hotel anymore.." he grinned. "What?" I gave him a confused look. "I spent all day packing and moving.. Which is a whole lot of work!" he mumbled still not answering my question of 'what?'. "I got us an apartment!" I gasped at his words. "Really!? Yay!" I clapped my hands together excitedly. We pulled up and entered our apartment. Everything was already ready. Furniture and everything. "Oh jack its wonderful!" I gasped standing at the door way. The walls were a dark blue in the living and bedroom. The kitchen walls were a dark shade of purple so was the bathroom. The furniture was white, cream, or black. "I know!" he growled picking me up bridal style and carrying me to the bedroom. He crawled on top of me kissing me everywhere. "Jack no stop.." I whispered though I didn't want him to.

If I was then I should play it safe right?

"What?" his voice was rough and sounded defeated. "Why love?" he pouted at me. "I um am not feeling well.." I avoided his eyes as I stood up about to head to the kitchen. "How bout we order a pizza?" I suggested changing the subject. "ok.." jack said, his tone a mix of confusion, sadness, and hurt.
