Nobody's POV
The day of the start of the siege had finally arrived.
Tensions were high in the camps of both the Hessian-British soldiers and the Continental Army, with both sides watching the other to see who would move first. General Washington was an emotional mess: stressed, nervous, excited for the end of the war...
Those who look back sometimes say that he was even more of an emotional mess than he was during the terrible winter at Valley Forge, the stress and the nerves battling for his attention. You could never tell when the General would lash out at someone, unable to contain his fiery hot temper.
Benedict Arnold, on the other hand, was quite happy. This siege, he hoped, would help him in his quest to make General Washington's life miserable in revenge for the man's neglectance of him.
And all he needed was Major General Alice Bell.
She was the crowning jewel of his plan, the final puzzle piece of the big picture. With her, he knew, he would be able to tempt Washington to his headquarters. There, he would keep the man and Bell locked up, unable to even dream about escaping, until the battle was won.
With their General and a Major General locked up, unable to provide orders, the army would likely fall into chaos.
At least, that's what Arnold hoped.
After the battle, he would only agree to let the General and his girlfriend go free if they agreed to the British terms of surrender for the Americans. If they did not agree, he would likely order them hanged anyway, thanks to their high acts of treason against his beautiful King.Grinning maniacally and rubbing his hands together, he called for a certain captain everyone knows and loves.
"CAPTAIN SIMCOE!" He bellowed with such force that the sound waves from his voice rattled the window blinds. Simcoe came running in, panting heavily.
"You really need to excersise more, Captain." Arnold shook his head in exasperation, as Simcoe wiped his forehead.
"You say that every time we meet, General." countered Simcoe, smirking.
"Shut up. I have an order for you." Simcoe complied with his wishes, and shut up for once.
"What is the order, sir? I am at your service, sir." Simcoe said, saluting the General.
"I have another mission for you. You remember Major General Bell, do you not?"
Simcoe looked at Arnold in confusion, eyebrows raised. "I remember a Lieutenant Colonel Bell, but not a Major General Bell. Is it the same person?"
"She recently got a promotion, all on her boyfriend's orders, of course. Anyways, my mission for you is quite simple, yet it is probably the most important mission you will ever complete." Arnold paused for dramatic effect, like the drama king that he was.
"Sir?" Simcoe asked, prompting him to go on.
"I want you to find a way to kidnap her and General Washington. With them both locked up, unable to provide orders, the army will fall into chaos, therefore guarenteeing this final victory for us. The colonies would never revolt again."
"As you wish, General Arnold. I shall begin planning immediately." simpered Simcoe.
"Excellent. You are dismissed." Simcoe started to walk toward the door, but stopped in his tracks when Arnold intercepted him. "Oh, and one more thing! I want them in chains by sundown tomorrow!"
"Yes, General. It shall happen."
Simcoe nearly skipped out the door.
Ali's POV
I stood tall, my arm raised in greeting as Gilbert walked by, arm in arm with Alexander and Lin.
"Ali-" Laf quickly corrected himself, for we were currently in the public eye of the camp. "Major General Bell."
"Ah, Marquis. How do you do on this fine morning?" I politely inquired, grinning.
"Very well. And yourself, mon ami?"
"I find myself feeling wonderful at the present time, albeit a tad stressed out." I replied, joining the three as they walked.
A few minutes into our walk, George intercepted us.
"General Washington!" I exclaimed in surprise, as we came to a sudden halt.
"Forgive me for my intrusion, but can I please speak to Major General Bell? Alone?" His voice shook as he made the request, and the exhaustion on his face was clear. I nodded, and he awarded me with a smile.
"We'll continue this discussion later!" I called back to my friends as we walked further away. Lin shouted something in reply, but I was too far away to hear it.
"So, George, what service do you require of me?" I asked my longtime friend -soulmate-, and he stopped walking as soon as we were closeted behind some trees.
"I wish to talk to you about something very important." he told me, in that one "General Voice" of his that he only used when giving important orders. "I'm sure you understand this, but there is a chance that one or both of us might not survive this final ...siege."
"George! Don't talk like that!" I exclaimed, grasping his hands in mine. "I know we will survive. History has deemed that to be true. Trust me; you know where I come from."
"Still, just in case history is wrong and we don't survive, I wished to see you alone one last time." He whispered, head down.
"George." I said sternly, staring into his eyes as if daring him to challenge me. He stared right back. "We. Will. Survive. I am sure of it. Remember, we have all of Olympus on our side."
He chuckled, a musical sound that lifted my spirits almost as much as it did his. "You do have a point there, Miss Bell. I just wish I could be sure that one day I will be able to call you Mrs. Washington."
"And you will, when we wed after the war is done. I swear that we will stay alive, and we will not be separated. No matter what the Redcoats or Providence may have in store for us." I swore, and he pulled me into a hug.
"Don't mind me." We pulled apart quickly as we heard a voice, embarassed. "I'm just enjoying the show."
"No. No no no no no. Why is he here?" I whispered to myself, as I recognized the voice.
It was Benedict Arnold.
And Captain Simcoe.
Oh, joy.
