~A Few Months After the War Has Ended~
Ali's POVThe weeks leading up to the wedding were hectic.
Mandy and I, with the help of various others (including one Sarah Phillips, who was staying with me and George to get an eyewitness account of the wedding for the Pennsylvania Gazette), were making preparations for the wedding, which took up most of our time.
I still hadn't even decided the bridesmaids yet, and I highly doubted George had chosen his groomsmen, though I had a very good idea of who he would pick.
"You know, maybe you could ask the Schuyler sisters to be in the wedding party," Mandy suddenly commented one night, as we were lying on our beds, scratching away at a piece of paper as we jotted down various ideas.
"Yes! THANK. YOU!" I exclaimed gratefully, shocked that I had not thought of that idea.
Anyways, pretty soon me and Mandy had come up with the final list of Bridesmaids, which included Eliza, Angelica, Anna Strong (Whom Mandy knew from her fiancé's Thing) , Abigail Woodhull (Whom Mandy also knew from her fiancé's Thing) , and Sarah, of course. After intense discussion with George, we finally decided on the Groomsmen being Alex, Lin, John Adams (the reason being that he was both a longtime friend and the one who had proposed that George be the general of the Continental Army.), James Hiller (whom George had become rather close with), and John Laurens.
And we voted unanimously to have Amanda and Gilbert as our best woman/man respectively.
It was going to be perfect.
The day of the wedding finally arrived, and everything was a flurry of craziness and stress. I was doing a pretty good job of controlling my nerves, but I cannot say the same about George.
George's POV
I put my head in my hands, groaning, as the nerves finally got to me.
I had never been so nervous in my entire life.
Not even when I had asked Ali to be my date to the ball, nor watched her be thrust into captivity twice, not even when I was fighting for my life at Yorktown or dealing with the terrible winter at Valley Forge.
I was about to be married... Again.
Now, I had done this before, so I was not sure why I was so nervous.
God, it was complicated.
I heard bells in the distance, and knew it was time for me to make my way to the front of the aisle.
As I walked, I could feel the eyes of everyone on me, their owners either staring in awe for some reason or whispering to their neighbors. Jefferson, who had come back from France for a week for the occasion, played the violin with expertise in the background, accompanied by the sound of a beautiful classical piece that I did not know the name of on the piano.
I waited, anxiously, as my soon-to-be wife walked down the aisle, escorted by none other than Lin, who had become almost a surrogate father -and friend- to her in Perseus' absence from this world.
Lin handed her to me, placing her hand in mine as he placed a light, almost fatherly kiss on her cheek. The bridesmaids and groomsmen, as well as the others present, watched us with approbation (A/N: SORRY FOR THE A/N IN THE MIDDLE BUT I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF, BECAUSE I ACTUALLY USED A VOCABULARY WORD IN MY WRITING!!!!!!!Okay back to the story now.) as we exchanged our vows...and rings. The Reverend, one Benjamin Tallmadge Sr., allowed us to be fully bonded when we said the five words I had been dying to hear ever since I had met Alice:
"You may kiss the bride."
Mandy's POV
I looked on proudly as my closest friend married the love of her life, reminding myself that it would only be a half of a year before I would be doing that with Benjamin. Glancing over at Ben, I could tell that he was thinking the same thing.
Soon, all four of us will have fully bonded with our significant others.
George's POV
The wedding ended not soon after, and me and my wife -God, it felt amazing to be able to call her that- were soon back inside the house, as we prepared for the reception.
"Well, Mrs. Washington, are you ready for a celebration you will never forget?" I asked her as she re-styled her hair, straightening it out again.
"Ready as I'll ever be, Mr. Washington."
