Serena heard a knock at the door she opened it to see her good friends gary and misty standing there with there son michael "hey guys this is a surprise come on in" she said with a smile on her face it had been so long since she had seen a familiar face in person.

"We were visiting hoenn and gary thought it would be a good idea to visit" misty said with enthusiasm "michael why dont you go play with astrid and chris". "Ok daddy" he grinned and went to find the twins.

"I had the call from professor oak i cant believe ash could do such a thing" serena said with tears in her eyes."it wasnt his fault team rocket was controlling him he told me himself he also told me to give you this" gary handed over the letter ash had given him serena smiled at the familiar hand writing. "His still alive" she started crying again. "I knew he would pull through" she cried. "But why hasnt he come back?".

"He said that he had unfinished business to attend to" gary said not wanting to tell the whole story to serena especially in her emotional state. "It will probably explain it in that letter". He said "i will read it tonight" she said whilst she continued to entertain her guests.

Meanwhile in the garden the children were playing with the twins parents pokemon. "So these are your dads pokemon" michael said "yes there the strongest pokemon ever my dad was the kanto champion after all" astrid said proudly whilst petting her fathers snorlax. "So where is your dad?". Chris turned to michael with tears in his eyes michael instantly knew he made a mistake asking. "Im sorry i didnt mean to upset you".

"No its ok" he said whilst stroking his dads pikachu "my mom said he is off fighting an evil organization called team rocket. "But he will be back soon" astrid said with a happy look in her eyes. "Come on lets have a pokemon battle" "yeah" the two boys shouted. "Great snorlax i choose you".

Just then the adults come out and laughed as astrid called on her dads snorlax to battle snorlax looked determined and ready to go "hey dad can i use your pokemon" michael said with fire in his eyes the young lad reminded him of himself which made him smile "sure son use this pokemon" he held out the pokeball which michael took and thanked his dad for "Blastoise i choose you". "Age before beauty" astrid said michael nodded.

"Blastoise use hydropump" michael said a jet of water came from the two cannons on his back.

"Snorlax dodge and use giga impact" to everyones astonishment snorlax moved with great speed and dodged the attack whilst connecting his fist with the back of blastoises head.

"Blastoise retreat into your shell and use rapid spin" "snorlax dodge and use giga impact 1 more time" snorlax dodged and connected with blastoises shell he emerged with swirls in his eyes chris called the end of the match "blastoise is unable to battle snorlax is the winner this match goes to astrid".

"Yay we won snorlax" she jumped at the pokemon who took her into a bear hug as she celebrated her victory. Then she went to michael and shook his hand "that was a great battle". "Thanx but i cant believe i lost" astrid smiled "winning isnt important its having fun along the way and never giving up that counts".

Michael smiled "thanks astrid" a small blush came across the young boys face. "No problem" astrid smiled as she let go of michaels hand.

Gary looked at astrid and smiled 'she is truly ashes daughter the way she showed great sportsmanship just now he would be proud of her and chris' he was deep in thought chuckling to himself then misty snapped him out of his trail of thought "whats so funny?" she said to her husband.

"I was just thinking that ash would be proud of his two kids and that he should be here to see this" misty and serena nodded in agreement "do you know what i was thinking" misty said to serena and gary who were both curious at what misty said.

She giggled slightly "I think our little michael has a small crush on astrid look at him blushing" they both turned to face the children and laughed at michaels red face " you never know the way them 2 are we will be inlaws by the time there 25". Serena exclaimed This made them laugh even more. Its been the happiest serena had been for a long time.
