Chapter 29 - The Next Generation

Ash walked into the childrens room "time to wake up guys besides you two never opened your present off me and your mom".

They soon jumped up out of bed and took a box for each of them off there dad. They opened the presents and there eyes lit up.

"Its travel gear everything you will need for your pokemon journey"

"Thanks dad" Astrid gave her dad a hug.

"Yeah thanks dad" Chris hugged his dad on the other side.

"You need to thank your mom aswell she chose your outfits". They all laughed "ill leave you two to get changed and meet you down stairs" Ash left the room and headed downstairs.

Once the twins were dressed they headed downstairs in there brand new outfits. Astrid was wearing a red cap with black shorts a red tshirt and black jacket whilst chris wore a blue cap black shorts a black tshirt and a blue jacket each cap had the symbol for the pokemon league stitched onto them.

"Well come on then lets go todays the day you get your first pokemon" serena said with pride. So off they went to Proffesor Oaks research lab outside Ash and Serena hugged there children and wished them good luck as they entered the lab.

Inside the lab they were greeted by Gary Oak "hey kids come on through". They followed Gary to a small room where there were 4 pokeballs on the table. "So what pokemon have you decided to choose?" He asked with curiosity.

"Well ive put a lot of thought into this and I choose you Charmander" Astrid picked up the pokeball with a fire symbol on it and threw it into the air and out popped a charmander "hey Charmander do you want to travel with me?"

"Charmander char" the little charmander said and ran into its trainers arms.

"So chris who will you be choosing there is still a Bulbasaur left and a Pichu" Gary asked kindly.

"What I thought there was a squirtle aswell who got squirtle?" Chris looked confused.

"That would be me" the twins turned round to see Michael standing there with his new Squirtle by his side.

"Nice 1 Michael he looks so cute" astrid said stroking squirtles head.

"Well in that case i choose you Pichu" Chris took the pokeball with a lightning bolt symbol on it and released the tiny electric mouse pokemon from its ball "hey Pichu do u wanna be my traveling companion".

Pichu looked at his new trainer and nodded his head "pichu".

"Thats great were gonna have a awesome time" Chris replied as he let pichu jump on his shoulder.

All 3 of them headed outside to show off there new pokemon Ash walked up to them smiling as he saw them with there new pokemon "So Astrid you chose Charmander its really hard to train I hope your up for the challenge".

Astrid smiled at her dad "of course im up for the challenge im one step closer to becoming a pokemon master just like you dad".

Ash turned to his son "so you picked Pichu he seems to like you already".

Chris smiled but seemed upset at the same time Ash saw this and pulled his son to one side "whats up Chris?".

Chris looked up at his dad with a sad expression on his face "its just that Astrid knows what she wants to do with her life a pokemon master. Michael knows what he wants to do with his life a pokemon researcher. But i dont know what i want to do" a tear rolled down his cheek.

Ash wiped the tear away "hey look at me" Chris rose his head to look at his dad "Chris whatever you want to do with your life is up to you even though you havent figured it out yet. Take your mom for instance she started traveling with me not knowing what her dream was at first then she discovered her dream later on." Ash sighed slightly "i guess what im trying to say is go travel with your sister find your dream and whatever it is me and your mom will support you 100%"

Chris smiled at his dads words of encouragement "thanks dad your the best" he gave his dad a hug and joined the others.

Serena walked over to Ash "is everything ok with Chris?" She asked concerned for her son.

Ash took her into a hug "Chris is gonna be just fine".
