-------------------------------------------------------Dan's POV
The next morning I woke up to the sound of people yelling orders out side my door. I simply sighed and stared up at the ceiling for a few minutes thinking about last night, I was so close...but suddenly the nurse (who's name I figured out was Ritta) walked in, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Good morning Daniel." She said as she opened the door.
"Morning Ritta..." I replied with a sigh.
"Goodness, I don't think I deserve such an enthusiastic reply." She commented.
Ritta tried to carry on the conversation but it just seemed to fade.
"Your parents are going to be here today.... So I want you to be presentable by the time they get here." Ritta mentioned as she rewrapped my arm. "Your cut is looking better..."
I groaned under my breath, why did my parents have to come, they've never cared about anything I've done, they never call, I haven't heard from them in over four years, and they both hate me. But I didn't want Ritta to look bad, I nodded in agreement and swung my bruised and scabby legs over the side of the bed.
"Good choice," Ritta replied. "I'll be back in 30 minutes to bring you too your next test."
After Ritta left I slowly walked to the bathroom and looked at my self in the mirror. I looked like death had only picked up half of my soul...felt like it too. My sunken eyes had dark bags under them and my limbs and body were skinnier then usual and my skin was paler them I remember it being, my brown fringe was oily and slightly curled from the lack of straightening I usually do to it. I sighed and splashed cold water on my face.
I managed to decently clean up before I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in." I called, expecting it to be Ritta.
Unfortunately I was wrong, the knob turned and I saw a face I haven't seen in a long time, my mother. Age had gotten to her a bit, gray and white hairs peppered her thinning hair, but her outfit was on point.
"Hello mom." I said as I emerged from the bathroom.
"Hello Daniel." She said hugging me, I felt so awkward, since when was she this nice?
Suddenly my dad walked in, he looked almost the same, little aged but not as much as my mom. "My son, how are you doing?" He asked smiling, this was now getting annoying.
"I'm fine." I mumbled.
I had so many emotions coursing through me at the moment. I was not emotionally prepared for my parents to waltz in here and act like the past four years were nothing but rainbows and unicorns, I was currently sitting on my bed painfully listening to my parents discuss how wonderful their last vacation was when they went to Dubai. Apparently they got incredibly wealthy in the past few years while I was here surviving on 99 cent meals and living in a rotting flat. I was pissed.
"Oh Allen remember the camels." My mom laughed.
I had had enough, "quick question?" I interrupted, "why are you two here?"
My parents both looked shocked at why I said that.
"Can we not visit our son while he's in the hospital?" My dad questioned.
