Jeremy's POV
My dad sidestepped me with a smirk as he walked inside and went directly to his office. The longer I stood there I realized that mixed in with his scent was just a trace of a scent I knew well and hadn't smelled in a couple of years. "Nah." I mumbled and walked out still confused about my dads laughter. What I'd said to him was true and he knew it as well as anybody. His laughter was a rare thing ever since I could remember. Sure, he laughed when I was younger but then slowly his laughter dissapeared until it was completely gone.
I stopped in front of the house next door and looked at it for a while. That house had way to many windows but heck at least now it was occupied. Wonder if they had kid? I turned to walk away and saw as one of the curtains moved out of the corner of my eye but when I turned to look directly at the curtain it was still again. I shrugged and kep walking down the street to Cameron's house where we'd agreed to meet last night.
"Hey, did you see the 'visitors'." Were Cameron's first words to me the moment I stepped inside his house and rolled my eyes. "No, I didn't see them. My dad visited them earlier though." I told him and he looked out the door as if seeing there house from here was even possible. "I wonder if they have any hot chicks." He adds before walking to his room with me in tow and plopping down on his bed where his hands instantly went for.... For his Wii control pervs lol.
He handed me one and we began to play but every few minutes he'd bring up the new neighbors until I finally just gave up and stopped playing. "Look, Cam, honestly I don't know anymore about them than you do so stop trying to bleed me for info that I don't have." I tell him exasperated and he rolls his eyes. "Ok, fine. Let's talk about Alecia's party this weekend. Do you think she'll invite the new arrivals?" He asked me somehow managing to get back to the visitors.
"Who knows. Maybe they're not even our age. Then why invite old people to a back to school party?" I ask rhetorically but he answers anyway. "Nah, they had bikes. I'm betting at least someone in there is our age." He stated before we go back to playing. This time I was the one distracted by old memories of Lilly. Her voice, her attitude she was so meek and when she left I couldn't help but feel guilty about her abscence.
Lilly's POV
I saw him through the window and felt the betrayal coursing through my veins. In that instant I wanted to punch him and show him how much those words from long ago hurt me. I took out all my luggage and carried it up to the third floor with some help from Nathan. Once everything was up there I kissed him deeply and sighed. "I love you Nathan." He smiled and pulled a stray hair out of my eyes. "Me too Lilly." He says.
I open one of my suitcases and pull out a black hoodie with a skull in the back that said I'm Bad For Your Health. It was pretty awesome. I took off my leather jacket and switched out for my black hoodie. I zipped it up and walked down stairs where everyone was unpacking. "Feel free to choose your rooms. I need to go out for a bit and I will be having guests over later so Brad keys." I state and he throws me the challenger's keys over. "Thanx." I tell him and he smiles at me.
'Jay stay close to my floor, please.' I tell him through mindlink and see as he nodds out of the corner of my eye. "If you wanna go somewhere do so but don't mention my name to anyone even if they tell you they have a right to know." I add, "I want to surprise people. Brad when are the movers getting here?" I ask and he looks at his phone. "Around twelve in the afternoon. Don't worry I'll be here to receive them if you're not back by then." He says and I smile, "You're awesome." I tell him.
I make my way to the garage and instantly Nathan, Brad, and of course Daniel start tailing me. I unlock the car and turn around to face them before leaving,"Nathan, Brad could you take everyone shopping, please?" I ask them and they agree. "Sure, Lilly but what for? There's food and the house is furnished." Brad tells me and I nodd. "I want to come with you." I hear Nathan say but shake my head. "There's something I gotta but I'll be back soon. Brad, I'm gonna host a party tomorrow and want them to have something nice to wear of their choosing." I tell him and pause, "Just like two-fifty or three hundred each and I'll pay you guys back when I get back." I tell them.
"Ok, we'll take them and don't worry about paying us back." Brad tells me and Nathan nods. "Yea, babe, don't worry we got it covered. Just you know hurry back." He tells me and hugs me. "Oh, before I forget. If you get back and we aren't here," he pauses and throws me another set of keys,"Make yourself welcome." And dangles an identical set of keys in front of me. "I've got mine." He says and I hug him. "You're the best brother I could've asked for." I tell him and he pushes me away.
I open my door and Daniel opens his as we both step inside before closing the doors. "Dress nicely. My parents won't be impressed if you look like a hippie." I tell Nathan laughing as he stares at me unbelievingly. I blow him a kiss and pull out of the driveway heading home. We drive in silence for fifteen minutes before I park the car on the side of the road in front of a small house with open curtains. I sit there for a second and sigh, "Time to face the music." I murmur and step out, Danny in tow.
I knock on the door and wait while the neighbors stare at me or more like the figure beneath the hood trying to figure out who I could possibly be. They could see Danny plain as day and going my there murmurs I was guessing they thought we were a pair of guys. A few moments later a little girl with blonde hair opens the door followed closely by my mother. I wanted to lower my hood but there was no way I was going to let people see me yet, at least not until tomorrow.
They both stared at us, my mom in shock and the little girl, my sister she was intrigued by me. "Hi, mom." I whisper and she starts crying. "Can we come in?" I ask her but all she can do is nod and let us through before closing the door and all the curtains. Once inside she hugs my taking the air out of me,"Mom, please, I can't breath." I tell her as she realeses me and I begin to gasp for air. She might not be as young as me but she was freaking strong for a female.
"Lilly, my Lilly!" She kept cheering and I let my hood down. "I've missed you so much, Lilly you have no idea what you've put us through young lady." She tries to be stern with me but she ends up laughing. "Daisy, sweetheart, this is Lilly, your sister." She tells the little blonde girl as she throws herself on my legs latching on to me for dear life. She looks up to me her eyes full of happiness, "Don't go." She whispers as a few tears fall from her gorgeous eyes.
"I'm here to stay, for awhile anyway." I murmur and my mom looks at me. "You're leaving again?" She asks me with her pleading eyes. "Is daddy home?" I ask and she shakes her head. "No, but he shouldn't take long. He's just doing morning rounds." She tells me and I nodd. "Mom, this is Daniel. Danny this is my mom and my little sister Daisy." I introduce them and they shake hands except for Daisy who refused to let go of my legs.
"Is this young man you're boyfriend?" She asks me innocently and I laugh. "Gosh, mom no!"I exclaim, "He's a good friend of mine. Look I'll explain when daddy gets home, ok?" I ask her and she nods. "Do you guys want anything?" She asks us on her way to the kitchen. "Tea and some water, please, mom." I tell her and she nods. She brings us our glasses and sits down, "Daisy, sweety, let go of your sister." She pleads with her.
"No!" She yells as she shakes her head from side to side and mom looks at her sternly. "Now, Daisy." Moms voice was stern yet soft and Daisy pouted. "Ok." She murmurs and slowly pulls away. My mom works around us as we wait preparing breakfast consisting of an inmense amount of bacon and eggs with toast and orange juice. I loved my bacon and my momma knew it. "Doesn't your friend ever smile?" I hear my mom asking me as we set the food platters on the table while Danny stand in a corner.
"He does just not right now." I tell her and she shrugs. We hear the door creak open and Daisy beelines to the door only to get picked up in my daddys arms. "Daddy! Daddy! My sista is home!" She yells out excitedly and my dad freezes. I stand in the kitchen facing the doorway in a state of panic. 'Don't worry.' Daniel tells me through our link but I can't help myself and that's how my daddy finds me. Frozen on the spot with a platter of bacon on my hands.
