Chapter 6: Vacation?!

“How’s the host club been?” I asked Haruhi as we walked towards the music rooms after school. It had been about a week since I’d met her and we had become fast friends.

“I think today is ‘tropical paradise’ cosplay. So normal.” she shrugged. “How’s the fam?” she responded.

Haruhi knows all about my family situation and how demanding and uncaring they are. “The same,” I replied, giving her a hug as we arrived at the music rooms.

I walked into my home away from home, closed the door, and grabbed my cello. It was my one day off from tutoring, a Friday, and that meant that I was probably only gonna spend about an hour after school. I had a project to finish over the weekend and a paper that was due soon, so there was a good reason to be heading home soon. I decided to make today a Bach day, so I leafed through my binder until I found a cello piece composed by the man himself.

About nine in the morning, my blaring ringtone woke me up.

“COMIN OUT OF MY CAGE AND I’VE BEEN DOIN JUST-”

“Hello?” I asked with sleep in my voice.

“Hey, Kanari, you love me right?” I heard Haruhi respond.

“Uhm, yeah. Are you gonna confess to murder or something? That would be really inconvenient,” I shot back, “I don’t know if my family would approve of me keeping company with murderers.”

“Gosh, when did you get sarcastic?” she mumbled.

“It’s a morning thing.” I yawned.

“Well, no, I didn’t murder anyone. I just wanted to tell you that we’re going on vacation,” Haruhi answered.

“Vacation?!” I shot out of my bed. “I’ll be there in thirty.”

I hung up, tossing the phone on my bed, and dragged my suitcase out of my closet. After throwing my entire wardrobe in it, I dragged it down the hallway and practically threw it down that stairs. I was so ready for this. I definitely needed some time away from my family and-

“Kanari?” my mother called.

Oh.

“Yes mom?” I answered softer, hearing her coming down the stairs.

“Where are you going?” she questioned. “What’s with the suitcase?” she added, eyeing it.

“I’m just going for the weekend. With a friend of mine from school.” I twirled the loose strands of hair around my face. There was no reason for her to not let me go; I was surprised she even asked.

“Sure, I guess,” she acknowledged, already turning to go back to bed.

Knew it. Bless my family. Just this once though.

Limos and chauffeurs are on call 24/7 at my house, so I arrived at Haruhi’s house with little difficulty. I knocked on the door, and was surprised to see Ranka answer.

“Oh dear, I’m-”

That was all I heard before everything went black.

Sorry about that cliffhanger :) blame my friend Amanda! ( @aybaybeh ) I'm sorry I haven't updated guys, I'm horrible.
