Chapter 8: Twins
I stood their, shrinking back from their gazes. I suddenly was very grateful for the cloth wrapped around my body, meager as it may be. The swimming suit was, technically I supposed, a one-piece, but it was more like bikini pieces connected by knit mesh. The whole thing was a sort of deep blue.
“Are you guys sure? I was hoping for something more… conservative,” I explained, eyes scanning their faces for reactions and then the room, searching for anything to cover up with. My eyes alighted on a discarded summer dress, sitting on the floor just outside the curtain, obviously put their by the twins. Action plan find clothes activated.
“Oh yes,” one said, smirking. “Quite sure, don’t you feel the same Hikaru?”
“Well of course, dear brother, how could I not?” He smirked, raising his eyebrows, seeming to just dare me to challenge their combined verdict.
My eyes were still on the dress. Trying to distract them, I sighed and said, “Whatever you guys say…” trailing off as I walked out, brushing past Kaoru. I bent down in what I thought was a casual manner, picking up the dress and practically flying away from their smirks. Pausing only briefly to shimmy into the white dress, I was intent on resuming my flight when strong hands wrapped around my waist. Another pair wrapped around my shoulders, sending pinpricks down my back where bare skin met bare skin.
“Now, now, Kanari, was that any way to act in polite company?” One teased with a smirk evident in his voice.
“You two are hardly polite company,” I said, snorting in disbelief.
“That wasn’t a polite thing to say,” the other whined. “You have to be polite for us to be polite!”
I rolled my eyes, trying again to slip out of their arms, but they were having none of it. I resorted to another tactic, one that I had never used before, or even had cause to. I slowly turned around until I was facing them, and caught my breath at how close my face was to either of theirs. “Can we go and swim, at least?” I smiled in what I hoped to be a coy manner, and internally screamed for them to let me go.
That was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done; there’s no way that’s going to work. Oh my gosh, I just need to-
I let out a breath I had been unconsciously holding as they untwined their arms from me.
“If you put it that way,” one said, “We’d love-“
“To swim with you,” the other finished, and I think I almost imagined a breathiness in his voice that wasn’t there before. They took either one of my hands and let me away from the building and up the trail to the river sort of thing we arrived by.
At the moment I was playing with Honey in the shallows of the water, relieved that the stares of practically every male member of the Host Club were off my back. The twins had insisted that I discard the dress I was wearing as a cover up before we rejoined the others, and I was in no condition to refuse. The walk up here had left me confused, because when the twins touched me it sent shivers through my body. They were undeniably attractive, but I didn’t think that only that fact could be responsible for the feelings that whispered through my body.
To make it worse, once arriving back, Haruhi was swimming in the water and offered me no respite from the double-takes I received once I appeared with the twins. I was standing there, shifting uncomfortably, with not even the twins to comfort me. They had brushed past me once we arrived, and were now looking at me along with the rest of the boys, smiling in what appeared to be satisfaction. My hands went up to braid my hair, but were forced to stop when Honey bounded up to me and dragged me in the water “to play with him,” and here I am now.
“Kanari, come swim with me,” Haruhi exclaimed. I smiled over at my friend, who looked unbelievably happy now that she had finally let loose and decided to enjoy herself.
She really deserves this, she works so had all the time.
“So do you,” a voice I recognized as Kyoya said behind me.
Did I actually say that out loud? I thought that only happened in, like, movies.
“Yes,” he continued, “you did.” I sent a smile over my shoulder to Kyoya, who was looking down at me, holding a drink in his hand. His glasses looked absurd at this angle, they were practically falling off. “Honey, get Mori and come over here, the twins wanted us all to discuss something,” he ordered, turning around to gather the others. I took the opportunity to swim over to Haruhi and have a chat with her, seeing as I hadn’t had the time to really have a conversation with her.
We were in the middle of discussing Kyoya’s crazy-rich family when everything went black.
Kanari's bathing suit is on the link to the side, and it's mine :) I love it!
Hey guys! I know this is a very short chapter but I thoiught you guys would prefer something over nothing, so here it is. Really not sure when to expect the next update, this chapter took me forever because I wasn't really vibing with it, so try not to hold your breath waiting.
On another hand, I've recieved several messages prodding me to continue writing and to post more often, and while I deeply appreciate that you're all enjoying what I've created here, I do have a life outside Wattpad (shocking I know)
All of that said, I hope you guys are doing well and I would encourage you to vote or maybe comment if you'd like to see something happen in this story. I have very little plot outlined, so I csan definitely take some suggestians.
Love!
