I stare at myself in the mirror, sleep still visible in my eyes even though I tried my best to wash it off. Nothing is as bad as it seems.
The new year came as the old year left and there really wasn’t much to celebrate other than family and presents but it wasn’t the same without the little one and my mother, but it was like, whatever.
“Bay?” I turn to see my father standing in the doorway of the bathroom, “you coming?”
“I’m sorry, where?” I was still looking in the mirror, the rings under my eyes indicated my lack of sleep lately and I couldn’t figure out why. I usually sleep like a baby, literally.
“Just get ready.”
I’m left alone in the white tiled bathroom with my thoughts and fears.
I step outside to get in the car waiting on all of us to take us to the airport and for some reason I thought it was a good idea to sit in the back. The chauffeur looked at me through the rearview mirror, clearly alarmed by my presence it seemed. Nothing is as bad as it seems.
I kept those words running through my head, hoping a mind reader would enter my mind and realize, oh, she’s right, nothing is as bad as it seems.
“I couldn’t get a hold of Preston, we’ll just have to stop by.” My dad buckled his seatbelt in the passenger seat while I looked out the tinted window, “do you want me to drop you back off at the dorms, sweetie?” I chewed on my nails as I shook my head, my father knew what my silence meant; fear.
“Do you want me to come with you?” Aria stood outside the car door, her body leaning into the window, I tried to roll the window up so her head would get cut off, “you bitch!” I scared her.
“It’s alright, I can drive back.” From what I heard, my father was being dropped off at the airport to accompany his person and I was driving back because the chauffeur had to go with my dad also.
“Will you get mad at me if I ask you to do me a favor?” she pouts her lips and it’s hard to say no to that face.
“Depends on what it is?” She smiles wide and hands me a photograph of a blonde.
“If you see her, will you ask her to sign this? Please.” I can either laugh in her face and throw the photo back at her and say no or I could just simply say no but I love her.
“Yeah, sure. I can’t promise anything though.”
She shrugged her shoulders and sighed, “as long as you try, is all.” I smile in return and she heads back into the house as my dad walks back to the car.
“Matt says hi, by the way.” My dad’s way of starting a conversation has never been his forte.
“Did you tell him I told him to go fuck himself?” I spat back.
“Bailey! Watch your language, please.”
“Should’ve thought about what you were going to say.” I slide down my seat a little more and pull my hood up.
“It wasn’t my fault, ok? Stop blaming your mistakes on others.” I couldn’t respond after that, he knew how to shut me up.

“Why don’t you go get me a drink?” The guy that I had met a couple of weeks ago was standing in the circle of people I was talking to and he was the closest person to me who I knew, “pleeeease?” I smiled at him.
His toned biceps flexed under the flashing lights and his teeth sparkled like they do in those commercials. “Why don’t you just sleep with him already?”
