After being dismissed by Professor Snape Lily, Harry, Hermione and Ron walked quickly to D.A.D.A.
"I thought that lesson went rather well don't you Hermione?" Lily questioned in a jolly tone.
"Oh yes, extravagant." She played along.
"What's up with you two?" Ron asked getting confused by the tone they were using.
"Didn't you see Ronniekins, Malfoy had a little problem with his potion." Lily said as if it was so obvious.
"Yeah......." Before Ron could question further the girls walked ahead talking to a few Ravenclaws.
"I think Lily is a bad influence on Hermione." Harry only chuckled but silently agreed.
"Welcome students, as I'm sure you all know I am Professor Umbridge, we will be taking a new approach to our lessons this year, a safer more appropriate way to learn to prepare for your O.W.L examinations."
Hermione looked at the book that were handed in between each pair of students. She glared the contents of the book and raised her hand quickly.
"Yes dear" Umbridge said in a high pitched squeak while smiling.
"There is nothing in these books about using defensive spells." She stated.
"Using defensive spells? Dear there is no need rouse defensive spells."
"We arnt gonna use magic?" Ron asked, he looked absolutely baffled.
"No, there is no need"
"Hmmm maybe to prepare us for what's out there?" Harry questioned, voice rising as quick at Lily's temper.
"There is nothing out there dear, who would want to hurt children such as yourself"
"Hmm I don't know, perhaps Lord Voldemort?" Lily questioned, she new she was pushing it but this teacher did not seem to understand a single thing.
"Students shall raise their hands in my classroom!" Umbridge snapped. Most students shuffled in there seats for stayed quiet. Not Lily.
Lily raises her hand scarily slowly with a smirk on her face.
"Yes" Umbridge said back to her squeaky self.
"Well professor, if we are not use magic, what makes Hogwarts different to a muggle school?"
"How dare you-"
"No how dare you, who do you think you are? Hmm? Not a teacher but a puppet in fudge's show. Your scared."
"Detention Miss Potter!, on Friday in my office."
Harry tried to defend Lily but I gave him a glare which he knew not to intervene.
The trio and Lily all walked out of D.A.D.A and headed for the Gryffindor common room.
Lily POV
We reached the common room, you could hear a pin drop it was that silent. All eyes were on Harry.
Harry awkwardly shuffled and went on with his business, he decided to be civil and ask how deans summer was.
"Better than seamus's, that's for sure"
Once he said that seamus slammed his newspaper down and glared at Harry.
"Mam didn't want me to com back this year."
"Oh yeah, whys that." Harry played along, he knew why.
"Hmm let me think, because of you. The prophets saying stuff bout ya Harry."
"What and your mum believes it?"
"Well no one was there when Cedric was killed."
"Well why don't you go read the prophet like your stupid mother" he spat. If I hadn't had enough drama already today, I decided to intervene.
"Don't you dare talk bout my mother, no one believes ya you toss-"
"What's your accent seamus?"
The whole common room was now staring at me, they had no idea why one, I interrupted the dispute and two why I asked such a strange question.
"Irish wh-" before he finished I interrupted.
"Because all I hear is shit, you don't know what your going on about seamus. Why don't you look at the situation before believing a bloody newspaper, how long have you known Harry? 5 years? You should know he wouldn't lie. Come and talk to us when you have figured out where your loyalties lie. With Dumbledore or the Ministry, take your pick." And I storm up to my dorm.
About a minute later Hermione came up, I was afraid it was going to one of the other girls, they would probably scold me.
"Hey" she said
"Hi"
"That was very Slytherin of you."
"I'm sorry?" She took me by surprise.
"You were very sly is what I meant to say, you got to the point but in a peculiar way, most Gryffindors just shout and insult like Harry did. You took a Slytherin approach. I mean it worked, seamus looks really apologetic."
I'm not sure if you are offending me or complementing me... How very Slytherin of you Hermione." She turned to me and laughed.
This is going to be an interesting year...
