Students started piling into the great hall, all waiting eagerly for the first years to be sorted, not that they cared they just wanted the feast to start. However little did the fellow students of Hogwarts expect a fifth year to be sorted. The golden trio had left Lily in the safe hands of Professor Mcgonagall just outside the entrance to the great hall. "Don't worry you'll be fine, no matter what house your in, your still you." Hermione told lily.
"Thanks" she said with a hesitant smile. What if she was sorted into Slytherin, surly Harry wouldnt still want to talk to her.
Harry and Ron gave her reassuring looks however Rons was not full heartedly. He's always been prejudiced towards Slytherin, he can't help it.They walked through the doors and left her.
All the first years were all excited and nervous about what house they would be in. All as small and naive as the next they sat eagerly waiting for the tall gold doors to open.
"Welcome first years." Mcgonagall announced. She paused and glanced at all of them. Her eyes met Lily's. You could tell she was shocked by the questionable look and her wrinkled forehead. Lily was the spitting image of her mother. "And Miss Potter" she finished with a sad smile. "We are ready for you".
The doors opened and the first years marched in. Lily looked over to the Gryffindor table spotting Harry, he smiled at her and gave a small wave. No other students were shocked to see a fifth year as Lily blending in quite well. At a staggering height of 5"4 it was like she was one of them.
Lily POV (just wondering do you think I should continue the rest of the book in her POV or should I do it as I have been in the third person. :) thanks)
We had reached the front of the hall, I was so nervous, I could see Professor Dumbledore looking at me intently. I looked at Professor Mcgonagall as she carrying a brown, weathered hat.
"Now when I call your name you must come up here, I will place the Sorting Hat onto you head and you will be sorted into your house." With the other hand she held a long piece of parchment.
"Melody Abbott"
"RAVENCLAW!" the Sorting Hat shouted.
"George Matchitehew"
Before the hat had even been placed on his head he was sorted into none other than "SLYTHERIN!"
I started to get bored listening to all the names, a couple Hufflepuffs here a couple Ravenclaws there, same old same old.
"Lily Potter"
Shit.
Mutters could be heard all over the great hall, things such as "She doesn't look like a first year" "Potter, this is a joke". Every Professor sat up straight and leaned forward.
I walked towards the stall as confidently as possible with my head high. I sat down and the Sorting Hat was placed upon my head. I looked towards the Gryffindor table one last time, Hermione smiling with fingers crossed."
I'm ready.
"Ahh another Potter, I'm not surprised often but you seem to be one of those rare occasions. But alas where to put you?"
"Please not Slytherin." I pleaded with fear.
"Oh heavens no my dear, with a brain like yours Slytherin would do you no good, perhaps Ravenclaw. However your confident, your bravery cannot be ignored. Nor can your chivalry, I know just where to put you... GRYFFINDOR!"
