Chapter 4

You wake up the next morning and go to the shower. Once you shower you go to your room and blow-dry your (H/L) (H/C) hair before brushing it. You dress in a pair of (F/C) leather boots and a (F/C) tank top with your leather jacket. You walk out and your father is waiting for you since he will be creating the portal to Idris. You heart clenches at the thought of returning to Idris, but you brush it away and give your father a smile. He smiles before you both walk towards the Institute. It's quiet outside today and it causes you to give a small smile that is until someone runs into you. You keep your balance and get mad until you see who it is. You give a nod to your dad so he keeps going while you hold the red head. She looks up and her eyes flood with relief.

"(Y/N)! Just the person I was looking for! I need you to look at something."

"Why me and not my father?"

"I don't want him to know in case it's something stupid."

She hands you a paper and you look at it. You analyse the image before reading the Cthonian written down. You keep your expression neutral when actually your surprised at what you see. Apparently Clary is looking into a cult that worships Lillith, but she can't know what this really is. She'd be in too much danger and as much as you hate Jace you won't let him lose Clary. This is one of the times where you're glad that you know how to lie convincingly.

"Sorry Clary I don't know what it says, but on a different subject are you gonna be at the Institute when Izzy and I get back?"

"I'll try, but you know how my mom is right now."

You nod before running to the Institute and stoping in the garden where everyone is waiting. Everyone except Jace gives you a smile when they see you and you smile back. Izzy grabs your hand and the two of you walk into the portal and appear outside of the Gard. Izzy squeezes your hand reassuringly when tears prick your eyes, but you take a deep breath and the tears go away. She gives you a smile that you return before you both enter and go to the room where the ceremony is held.

A smile graces your lips when you see one of the Silent Brothers. You aren't supposed to know who he was before he became a Silent Brother, but he knows a good friend of yours and your father's. Izzy notices and nudges you giving you a look. You shake your head at her and stick your tongue out at her. She smiles making your smile grow bigger and that's when Brother Jeremiah approaches you and Izzy. He gives you both a soft smile before speaking.

"It's time to begin the ceremony."

You and Izzy make it to your spots and smirk at each other. You pay attention to the ceremony well since it will be the only one in your life. After a while it's time for you and Izzy to draw the parabati rune on one another. You take your leather jacket off and push your hair to your back so she has access to your shoulder. Once she draws your rune you place her's in the same spot on the opposite shoulder. Afterwards you smile at her and she grins at you. After that Izzy goes to her family and you watch with a small smile as a hand ruffles your hair. You turn to see Brother Zachariah smiling at you.

"You two will be one of the greatest set of parabati. I can see it now. How's your father?"

"He's fine. He had to stay back and close the portal, but he'll be there when I get back."

"That's good. I'll see you later."

He walks away and follows the other Brothers out of the room as you hear your name called. You turn to see Izzy gesturing you over so you walk to her side pulling on your leather jacket. When you make it next to her she throws her arm around your shoulders and Alec ruffles your hair, but then Jace opens his mouth ruining everything.

"I still don't approve of this. She helped him."

"I did. I won't lie about it. I helped Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern while in Alicante. Tell me this Jace if you knew Clary was going to kill people, but that if you tried to save them it would kill Alec and Izzy what would you do?"
