Kai: Once Saved Always Saved

~Nixie's POV~

"Kim Jongin, go to the office," Mr. Park bluntly tells my classmate.

"Fine, whatever."

That is the daily routine of the bad boy in our school, most commonly known as Kai. The first hour bell rang thirty minutes ago and Kai always walks in at 8:00 sharp.

Let me also mention that I have this...slight crush on him. Another fact of me is that I am a nerd...these factors are just messed up, I know. Lastly, Kai is part of the school gang Exo, which my best friend is part of.

It's just that his looks are an immediate obvious reason why gulls swoon over him...including me. I also believe that there is something beneath his dark personality that is trying to emerge. I see beneath people; I see some truth beneath everyone's façade.

A note lands on my desk and I glare at my best friend once again. The note reads: Let's go out after school. I'll take you to my special place near the Han River. <3 Jongdae

Every Friday Chen sends a paper airplane my way when our teacher is writing a notes on the board. This has been going on since the beginning of the school year. These have consisted as I think "dates" and it's abnormal.

We go way back to the playground when we were so very young. I was sitting on the swings just imaging my future. I got knocked off my swing and then a little boy saying, "I'm sowwy. I hope you are okay..." He had a caring expression on and I felt compassion. "I'm fine..." I reply. "My name is Jongdae. What's yours?" "Nixie," I say shyly. After that little meeting we have stuck together through all of the years. He got the nickname Chen from God knows where. I use Jongdae when I'm being all serious and such and Chen every time else.

---After School---

I meet up with Chen at his locker since he is such a slow poke.

"Jongdae, hurry up you pabo."

"Why are you calling me such a thing?!"

"Fine. Hurry up you troll."

"We're wasting precious time...I know you wanna spend some time with me."

"Of course Chen..."

"Thank you. Now let's go."

Chen and I walk to the river and he leads me up to the bridge. We stop about a fourth in.

"This is the place where I visit sometimes. Just a normal lad at a normal place..."

"You sound like some cheesy actor in some drama."

"Thank you very much," Chen bows multiple times like some cheesy weirdo.

Chen and I end up staying near the river for a few hours to do some dance covers. Every once in awhile he would go, "Not bad, not bad." Then we headed over to the local coffee shop where I ordered a mocha and Chen got some actual coffee. He stared into my eyes and smiled every once in awhile. He's adorable in that situation. Before we leave he takes my hands and goes, "Nixie love, in the past few months I have come to realize that I have fallen for you. You mean the world to me and I tell you absolutely everything to. My group of guy friends I cannot trust as much as I can trust you. Your friendship is something I hold true to my heart and you mean everything to me. I was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend. You are a sweet, understanding, and loyal friend and I'm blessed to have you in my life. You truly are a great product of my life."

My reply is filled with sadness, "Jongdae, my feelings towards you is only out of love of friendship. You too are an amazing friend. Your happiness is my happiness but this is something I wish to experience with...someone else. I'm sorry."

Chen smiles as he says, "Nixie, thanks for understanding though. Our friendship will always last forever."

It hurts me to see him somewhat sadder for the moment. The truth only hurts for a moment.

Chen guides me out of the coffee shop and into the chilly almost spring Friday night. As we pass an alley, a light shines on us. I feel someone fumble for my arm but right away I start running. Chen immediately follows my lead. After two minutes of sprinting I feel so weak and I slow down. Chen drags me along but I just can't keep up. I fall behind and someone grabs me. Chen keeps running while I am being dragged into another dark alley. The member pins me against the wall with his hands blocking my way.

"Why are you and your boyfriend running away from us?"

"He's not my boyfriend," I sputter out.

"Good because I get to make you mine. He ran away from you anyway so this is the best night."

"Good get Onew. We'll be back at the spot."

"Alone time," he says which is somewhat...seducing and appealing.

Wait. No. I can't fall into his trap...it's too late...

Onew strokes my face and I see his smirk in some sort of dim lighting.

~Chen's POV~

I was disappointed to hear that Nixie has no feelings for me, but when I look to my side I do not see her. Panic mode is released so I call my hyung.

"Kris, come with the group quickly on the main street."

He knows what I'm talking about. The usual street we travel on. I wait in my spot for five minutes impatiently and anxious. Nixie could have been killed already. Well, it's only a possibly, but it is part of the "what ifs?"

Exo hurries to me and we start backtracking.

~Nixie's POV~

"You are very pretty and smart, you hear this? It's true."

Onew's hot breath near my ear feels nice. Then his lips touch my neck and it feels...wonderful. I never felt this pleasure before. Before he can get any further I feel a strong breeze.

"What do you think you are doing you piece of crap?!" It's Jongin. My true love.

He grabs my hand and starts to power walk. He takes me the opposite way of where Exo stands.

"We need to talk," Kai roughly speaks.

Then we stop abruptly. We turn to face each other.

"Forget what happened. The gang SHINee is messed up, okay? You're in good hands with Exo. Chen is an awesome guy, you hear? Onew is the type to seduce girls all the time. Don't fall into anymore of their traps."

Why is Kai lecturing me? Out of all of them...

"Nixie, I've loved you ever since Chen became part of our gang. Knowing you through Chen is something. But I felt some...spark between us. I love you."

So straight forward...

"Kai," I start. "I-I love you too. I rejected Chen tonight because I know I have feelings for you. I knew there was something in you too."

Kai takes my face and leans down to kiss me. It was a beautiful kiss that felt like nothing mattered anymore.
