I was outside sitting close to the end of the driveway, I knew no one was going to drive on it, so I was fine.
It was quite cold, actually, but that didn't change me.
I sat there until a hand touched my shoulder, making me jump with fear.
"Calm down, its just me!" Haley sat next to me criss cross.
"What's wrong? you seem... down?" she asked, elbowing me.
"I'm fine" I shrugged.
"Okay, there is one thing I've learned from you and that is... A you are not fine and B, your shrug shows it" he said in a matter of fact tone.
"So, lets try again. What is wrong?"
"I don't know to be honest, sorry I'm being so stubborn." I frowned.
"You're not being stubborn." She looked serious.
"Now, c'mon, cheer up man! They're serving your cake inside, you gotta get in there!"
Haley got up and held out a hand for me to grab to pull myself up.
I grabbed we hand and after I got all the way up she gave me a friendly hug.
"Please don't be down! It's your birthday!"
She patted my back and grabbed my arm to bring me inside.
I followed her and we went inside, where it was a lot warmer then outside.
Everyone cheered as I walked back in and handed me a piece of cake.
"Thanks everyone!" I changed my attitude and Haley smiled.
"By the way, congrats!" he leaned in and whispered, eating her slice.
"Thanks" I whispered back, chuckling.
