~~ Flashback: The Beginning of Summer Break~~
After getting endless calls from my father and his assistant, I switched off my phone and decided to take it easy for the rest of the summer. Of course I wouldn't have contact with anyone but I didn't mind. And Rumi and her family were traveling so I essentially had nothing to worry about.
My intercom beeped and I grudgingly got up from the couch and pressed the button to hear what Gary had to say. "Yes?" I ask, suppressing a yawn.
"There is a young man here by the name Kyoya Ootori to see you. Shall I send him up?" Gary asks and I sigh. I liked how protective Gary was but sometimes it got a little old.
"Yes, you already know he's my friend." I insist.
"But I want to make sure you are decent beforehand." He points out and I can't argue that. I let go of the button and go back to the couch.
The elevator dings and Kyoya walks in, in casual wear. "Your phone is off." He says, coming to sit down with me. I then explain the father situation and he nods, understanding. "I came to offer you to come stay at one of my family's resorts at a discount, as it is summer break." He says and I nod.
"I don't have anything else to do. When would we be going?" I ask, making him smirk as he glanced over at my wall clock.
"An hour. Get packed and the helicopter with take us there." He says and I chuckle before getting up and going to my room to pack.
~~~
"Thank you, Kyoya. This is vary beautiful." I say as we sat with each other on the private side of the resort that Kyoya had reserved for us. I mainly suspected it was more for him to avoid the annoying kids that I had spotted in the resort.
"I wanted to relax and I figured I could bring someone who wouldn't annoy me." He explains honestly making me chuckle as we were given our drinks. Since we were already dressed to be out in a resort, we just had the employees take our bags to our rooms so we could relax.
"The Host Club isn't that bad." I say making him sigh.
"Not everything has to be a club field trip or a commoner's discovery." He reasons playfully and I nod agreeing.
"Well let's enjoy ourselves. I think we both can use it." I say and he nods, clinking glasses with me.
~~~
Since we got a two bedroom suite I went over and knocked on his door. Knowing he was probably asleep, even if it was already midday, I let myself in with a tray of food.
He's sprawled out on the bed, slightly snoring making me chuckle as I set the food on the nightstand. I write a quick note saying I would be at the pool and leave it on the tray.
Before leaving, I pull the blankets over him and pulled off his glasses. I set the wire frames aside and close curtains tighter so he won't be disturbed.
I was swimming in the pool when I noticed Kyoya there watching from the cabana. I do long strokes to him and step out of the pool. He was reading and wordlessly held out a towel for me to dry off on.
"Kyoya, will you be swimming today?" I ask as I pulled the towel around me before sitting next to him.
"No, but you can continue to if you want." He says, his eyes still glued to the book.
"I'm fine, I need a break." I say, pulling my laptop on my lap, opening it.
"How are things going with the investing?" He asks and I shrug.
"It's a long process for someone like my father." I say and he nods but closes it.
"It's a vacation." He smirks and I chuckle.
I take his book and set it aside. "Lunch?"
~~~
After a filling lunch he sighs as he looks at his phone. "Something wrong?" I ask as we sit on the couch of our room.
"Tamaki." Is all he says and I shrug, picking up one the few books Kyoya had on the coffee table. He sees this but let's me read his book and gets another one.
A few hours later and we are on opposite ends of the couch with our legs out beside each other. I noticed he was sleeping and got up and draped a blanket over him. I took his book and glasses and set it on the coffee table.
I started brewing coffee for when he woke and took mine black. I took out a small jar of sugar cubes because I know Kyoya likes his coffee with two creams, one sugar.
I took a sugar cube and stared at it. Perfect little crystal cube... I think if I tried I could remember how it tasted...
"Is that coffee?" He asks and I reluctantly drop it into his cup.
"Yes, two creams, one sugar?" I ask and he makes a sound of confirmation, stretching.
I hand his cup over and he takes a long sip. "It's late, do you want me to make something for dinner?" I ask and he shakes his head.
"I'll just go sleep." He mumbles, before dragging his form to bed with the coffee which didn't make sense but I didn't question him.
I ate a sandwich and was cleaning up when thunder cracked through the air, startling me so bad that I let the plate fall to the floor with a yell.
Extreme fear overtook me as I shrunk down to the floor, covering my ears. Even with hands over my ears I heard muffled sound of the heavy rain that was pouring outside. I flinched with each bout of thunder, trying not to cry too loud.
"Yuuto?" I heard Kyoya ask, trying to remove my hands. But I clamped them down tighter as lightening and thunder flashed across the room.
The lights turns on and the curtains were drawn. It helps partially but the sound was nearly unbearable. "If you're scared, we can drive to the airport and leave-"
"No! T-the rain. The roads will be wet. W-we can't." I shake my head, yelping when the thunder was sounded again. "I-I can't be near any cars when it rains." I say and I can tell he already knows why.
He sighs frustratedly, trying to think of a solution and I'm sure my sons weren't helping.
He ends up turning on some musical, though it didn't really block out all the noise. When he sees that in still crying, he sits next to me as a last minuet, reluctant decision and awkwardly puts an arm around me.
"Haruhi is leaving to Karuizawa. It doesn't rain that much over there." He says and holds me tighter when thunder strikes.
~~Present Time~~
I trembled in my room as it rained heavily outside. Kyoya was on the phone with me since there was a small flood on the roads and couldn't come over to help but we lost signal. Gary was gone, he didn't have the night shift anymore.
I was alone.
I was about to curl up in a ball when suddenly my door bursted open. "H-Hikaru?" I ask in shock, but yell when it thunders.
He was soaking wet from head to toe. "I... I saw it was raining and then they said the roads were flooded so... I-I ran over." He explains with a small blush but when lightening hits, he forgets it and rushes over to me.
He holds me tight, we both not caring for the fact he was wet. I cling to him tightly. "Thank you, Hikaru." I whisper.
"I didn't want you to be alone." He mumbles.
"I don't want to be either. Thank you for staying with me." I say softly against his chest.
"I won't leave you."
