Chapter 3:
It was midnight. The northern lights were showing. Skye had her blanket wrapped tightly around her, as she stared into the fire, with a dead look in her eyes. Brandon hasn't come back yet. She couldn't enjoy the moment she was waiting for, without knowing if he was okay or not. It was just, something she refused to do.
Meanwhile, the other 4 were whispering to themselves.
"Maybe we should talk to her..." Lauren whispers, as they looked at Skye.
"I don't know what we would say though." Bree hugged herself, in order to stay warm.
"We could reassure her?" Alex asks.
The three girls looked at him.
"She is quite possibly the last person we could ever reassure. She overthinks too much. She probably thinks Brandon is..." Lauren trails off at the sudden realization. "Shit. She probably thinks Brandon is dead."
"He couldn't be dead. Could he?" Ingrid asks, a little worried. She hated when her friends were in pain. Much less when she imagined them dead.
"I mean..." Bree trailed off, looking at the ground. "It wouldn't be that surprising. If- If he wasn't, he would have been back by now, wouldn't he?"
"Unless there were caves Skye didn't see down there and Brandon accidentally went into those." Alex said.
"Well..." Lauren sighs. "Well, what do we do? We can't have her sulking. I mean... Look at these lights. They're beautiful, and she's missing them."
Lauren was right, though. The northern lights were more beautiful in person, than they could ever be in pictures. The mixes of green and blues, overlapping the night sky with a beautiful hue. It was something to see, a once in a lifetime opportunity.
They finally gather the courage to comfort their helpless friend. Everyone sat down right next to her by the fire. Ingrid hugged her from behind, and Lauren laid her head down on Skye's shoulder. Bree did the same, on the other side of her. Alex sat down next to them, patting Skye on the leg.
"We can go looking for him tomorrow, if you want." Alex says.
Skye was silent. The other girls just looked at him again, like he shouldn't have said that- which he shouldn't have.
Since the cat was out of the bag though, Lauren spoke up. "I'm sure he's okay, Skye. We'll find him, okay?"
"Yeah. We'll start first thing tomorrow morning, when you wake up." Bree said.
Ingrid, was crying into Skye's back. "Please talk to us. We're here to help. We love you, can you please talk to us?"
It had been a moment. A long moment, before Skye lifted her head a little. "I think I'd like to go to bed now." She was able to say, after a long pause. Everyone got off of her, as she stood up slowly, and shuffled over to her tent just as slow. When she got into her tent, she turned to look at her friends. The dead look in her eyes, were evident.
The last thing she said before she went to sleep was, "We'll start tomorrow."

Three Days Ago
The gang started their quest to look for Brandon, by going into the cave again.
Whatever was in there when he and Skye were in there, had been long gone.
Upon closer inspection of the cave, they found that there really were other tunnels branching in different directions. Two, to be exact. They went in pairs. Ingrid went with Alex, and Lauren, Bree and Skye went together.
