Epilogue:
Death is inevitable. It is something that you cannot avoid, much like life and growing up. You can't avoid anything that leads you to your death. It's not painful, either. It's like sleeping, but knowing you will never wake up from it. And that's okay. It's something we all have to accept at some point or another.
Much like Skye, as she was waiting for her death to come.
---
"Skye."
A voice.
"Skye?"
Who is talking?
"SKYE!"
Skye opens her eyes, and sits up quickly. Panting, she looks around and sees she's in a tent, she looks again, and sees Brandon, staring at her... With his big brown eyes.
"Brandon?" she breathes, shocked.
Was... Was all that a dream?
"Come on, you're missing the lights."
Skye pulled him in for a hug, digging her face into his shoulder.
"Skye?" he chuckles, wrapping his arms around her. "Are you okay?"
"I had a bad dream," she mumbles into his shoulder.
"Oh? What about?" Brandon asks, rubbing her back.
Skye pulls away and looks at him, smiling. "Nothing, don't worry about it. It was just a dream."
Brandon looks at her, confused. "Okay then," he laughs. "Come on," he takes her hands and lifts her up.
When they get out of the tent, she sees Ingrid, Bree, Alex, and Lauren sitting by the fire. They look back at the two, and smile at them.
"Hey! You're missing them!" Lauren says, waving at Brandon and Skye. "Come on, hurry up!"
They walk over to the group, and Skye sits by Lauren, hugging her.
"Oh, what's this?" Lauren asks, hugging her friend.
"Apparently she had a bad dream," Brandon chuckled. "What was it about anyway?"
Skye looked at all of her friends. "It was about..." should she tell them? She shook her head, "I got into another car accident."
"Again?" they all said in a unison and she laughed.
"That wasn't my fault, my wheel wasn't aligned!"
"Uh-huh," Brandon mocks, smirking.
"Hey," Skye pouts.
"Well, why don't you look up, Skye? Look! Lights!" Alex says, and they all look up, seeing the beautiful shades of blue, green, yellow and purple glowing across the beautiful night sky.
"It's so pretty," Skye said, in awe.
"It is," Ingrid nodded.
"You don't get a say, you've already seen them!" Bree accused and Ingrid gasps.
"I can admire the beauty!"
"Nah, you lost the awe moment, when you told us that you saw them already."
"But..." The girls went on to tease Ingrid, and Alex sat down, roasting marshmallows.
Skye smiled, loving the faces of all her friends.
Brandon sat down right next to Skye, and put an arm around her. "You okay, babe?"
Skye looks at Brandon, savoring the moment that she had with everyone. Savoring their faces. She smiles. "I am."
They look up at the lights and just gaze.
"Hey, guys, would it be totally cliché to tell stories around the fire?" Bree asked, sitting down.
"Yes," Lauren nods. "And I love it. Who wants to go first?"
Everyone argued about who should go first, kept on saying 'me, me, me.'
Skye stepped in and said, "I have a story."
"Skye, no offense, but what do you know about horror stories?" Lauren asks.
Skye shrugged, and smiled. "I might surprise you. Mine isn't even a horror story."
"What is it then?" Brandon asked.
Skye thought a moment, then shrugged. "Survival story?"
They all look at each other, contemplating.
Lauren exhales her answer, "I'm down to listen." They all nod and look to Skye who starts the story.
"Alright, so it started on a night kind of like tonight, in a snowy wilderness..."
Skye went on to tell the story about 6 friends who went to Alaska to see the northern lights, and everything went wrong when one friend disappeared, and a beast was revealed.
Of course, they'll never know the truth about where she got her story from.
They'll never know it came to her in a dream.
