Chapter 9:
The beast was staring at them, with a hungry look. A look that could cut through your own heart.
The girls watched the beast, frozen. He started to move, but slowly. It was like he was the predator, stalking his prey. Which he was, and the girls were the prey.
Skye was furious now. Red hot rage seeping through her pores. She didn't know what she would do against the beast, but... She wanted to do something. "We got to kill him..."
"Skye, are you fucking crazy?! We can't!" Bree yelled. "Don't you understand? HE KILLED LAUREN AND ALEX. HE KILLED YOUR BOYFRIEND. WE HAVE TO RUN. NOW!"
"I can't." Skye whispered.
"What?" Bree asked.
"I can't run..." Skye said again.
"Why not?" Bree asked. The beast was drawing closer by the minute.
"This was all my fault..." Skye said, between tears.
"Skye... No, it wasn't. We don't have time for this, we need to go. NOW!"
"NO!" Skye yelled. She looked at her two terrified friends. "You two, you wo can run while you still can. Take whatever you can from the camp, and leave this place. Go back home."
Bree squinted her eyes in confusion, before her eyes went wide. "Skye, no..."
The beast was almost near them.
"I am not taking no for an answer. Go." Skye said, and looked at Ingrid, who had been crying.
"Skye, don't die... You'll come back for us, right?" Ingrid asks, and she smiles.
"Of course." She looked back and then looked back at them. "Now, go." Bree takes Ingrid by the hand, and backs up slowly. "GO!" she yells, and they run in the opposite direction.
She looked back at the beast, who continued to walk slowly. Skye's eyes went dark with rage, as she searched for something to protect herself with. She scanned the ground quickly, and saw the knife gleaming from the sun in the corner of her eye. Of course, it was a while away. She would never make it.
But she had to try. She looked at the beast, who was almost so close she could touch him. Skye waited, until the right moment.
When the beast was close enough, Skye ran to the left of him, and went around him. The beast roared, and ran after her. Skye was almost there when the beast grabbed at her leg, causing her to fall forward. He was dragging her, but she kicked his claw multiple times before he let go, with a grunt. She tried to crawl towards the knife as fast as she could. Surprisingly, she actually got to it and grabbed on to the hilt of it. When she turned to face the monster, everything went in slow motion. She tried her hardest not to look at Brandon's lifeless body this whole time, but when she accidentally did, every bit of fight she had left in her, disappeared.
She looked towards the monster, and every bone in her body went slack.

"Nervous?"

"You're listening to something, so what are you listening to?"
---
"Come hang out with us sometime. We'll get you to talk. Somehow."
---
"You don't talk much, do you?"
---
"I like you, Skye."
---
"Just sleep, baby."

Is this what death feels like?
