Kyle's POV

I woke up to someone banging on my door on a friday morning. "Kyle get up all you'll be late to school" my Mother said. I groaned but got up any way and had a shower. After I was dressed I went downstairs to see my Mother cooking eggs and bacon.

I sat down next to my best friend and future Beta Jason Conners. We have been best friends since per-school. But I don't think he was my first best friend. I have dreams about playing with a fox when I was a pup. I still have dreams of that fox but grown up now like me. It confuses me why do I dream about a fox and feel connected to it.

"Kyle I need to talk to you and Jason before you leave for school" my Father said. We nodded and followed him to his office/study.  Jason sat next to me as my Father sat in his chair behind his mahogany desk.

"We will be having a new family in town tomorrow. They are not human, vampires or werewolves. They are rare fox shifters, there are only a few families of them left. It is your duty to protect the three teens while at school. They used to live here and you were close to their daughter when you two were young Kyle" my Father finished explaining.

So they aren't just dreams some of them are memories I thought. Jason and I agreed to watch out for the fox teens at school. But  kept thinking about what the daughter was like. "I'll tell you after school about how you met the fox girl Kyle" Father said as if he was reading my thoughts.

I nodded and left for school with Jason in my black Ferrari. We were a little late to school, but my Mother had called the principal to tell him we'd be late. I couldn't stop thinking about the foxes. When Jason made a comment about the daughter I growled angrily at him. Shutting him up and I don't know why I'm so protective of someone I haven't seen in years.

But it was probably because she was my very first friend wither I remember her or not. I apologized to Jason and he did the same. By lunch I couldn't take it anymore had to know more about the fox.

When I got back to the pack house I went straight to my Father's office. He was on the phone "I look forward to seeing you again soon Allen". I entered as he hanged up. "I've been expecting you take a seat my son" he told me.

I did as I  was told and he went straight into the story. "About 17 years ago there was a pair of fox shifters that lived here. They had three kits or pups to us. You were only nine months old and hadn't shifted into a human yet. One day you wondered off into the forest and I went looking for you. I found you playing with the female fox kit and I was angry. Because the foxes weren't suppose to come into our land."

"How old was the fox?" I asked interrupting him.

"The kit was only about two months old and you protected her from me. " When I gave him a confused look he continued to explain. "I growled when I saw you playing with her as she coward you stood in front of her growling at me. It was very cute" he said chuckling at the memory.

I gave him a look and he continued the story. "Any way her Father Allen arrived and picked her up. He apologized and I went to shift back into human form. We spoke for a bit and I picked you up. We were about to go our separate ways when you whined loudly looking longingly at the kit. So we put you both down and she crouched on her belly still nervous around me."

"You went up to her and nuzzled her cheek as she licked your cheek. Her Father and I watched you two play. We saw the connection you two shared. But him and his family were moving away. When the kits turned into humans in a months time. During their last month though you and the kit seemed to always sneak off to play together" he finished.

I thanked him for the information and left to go to my room. I couldn't focus on school today knowing the truth about my first best friend. For the rest of the day until dinner I stayed in my room thinking about what the female fox teen looked like now.
