When Nyo!Italy and Nyo!Romano were younger, their hair was cut so that'd they look like boys, as male servants were much more desirable at the time. Nyo!Italy, being the little tomboy she was, never minded her new 'do, and she didn't even mind (or she was blissfully unaware) when Nyo!Austria mistook her as an actual boy.
Nyo!Romano, however, hated it. She rather liked her hair, and she considered it an insult that they had to cut her hair for her to be more desirable. When she was brought in by Nyo!Spain, Nyo!Romano made her fully aware that she was a girl, not a boy. If anyone tried to cut her hair, she'd hiss at them and attempt to steal the scissors and hide it.
Even now, Nyo!Romano remains wary of cutting tools perfectly capable of cutting her hair. She's always thought it weird for girls to even like having their hair short, such as Nyo!Germany, Nyo!Japan, and other such countries.
