CHAPTER 22
KRIS POV
Joyce and I have been together for several months now. Seven months to be exact. They say that 7 is the magic number in relationships because it can either break you or make you. The 7-year itch between married couples…the 7-month curse between young lovers. They say that if you get past this, then your relationship will most likely succeed. Of course I don’t believe in that crap. Ngayon pa? I’ve never been happier with anyone than I am with Joyce. I really love her. It’s not even puppy love anymore. I’m 17, almost of legal age, old enough to know what is real from what is not. And this is definitely real. She complements me that I often find myself incomplete without her. I can’t ask for anything more. So what they say about the 7-month curse doesn't simply hold true for us.
Don’t get me wrong, our relationship is far from perfect. We have petty fights every now and then, occasional serious ones and a bunch of tampuhan. But these never lasted for more than a day…at most na ang three days. Hindi ko matiis na magkaaway kami. I hate to admit it pero ako lagi ang nauuna makipagbati. Hindi ko talaga kaya na hindi kami mag-usap or magpansinan. But all these imperfections defined the way our relationship turned out to be. How we wanted it to be.
So now that we are celebrating our 7th monthsary, I wanted to do something special for her. I asked Lexi and Rick to help me. I’m planning to bring her to our resthouse in Tagaytay. Siyempre chaperone si Lex and Rick. Conservative kaya kaming apat! Anyway, I have it all planned.
I called her up that night.
Kris: Hi hon.
Joyce: Hi. Na-miss kita the whole day. Hindi ka man lang dumaan sa coffeeshop.
Kris: Sorry naman. I had some errands to do eh.
Joyce: SIra, joke lang. Ok lang yun no. Lambing lang.
Kris: Sorry talaga. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow. Promise.
Joyce: Talaga?
Kris: Yes. Basta sunduin namin kayo ni Lexi around 7am para pag-alis natin di pa traffic sa SLEX.
Joyce: Wait lang. Diba monthsary natin bukas? Kasama natin yung dalawa magcelebrate?
Kris: Oo. Para masaya. Ok lang sa iyo?
Joyce: A…ok…
I could tell na disappointed siya but she’s trying to hide it. Basta, I’m sure bukas matutuwa naman siya sa surprise ko. So kunwari, deadma lang ako.
Kris: Sige na, tulog ka na. I love you hon.
Joyce: Love you. Night…
JOYCE POV
Bakit ganun? Akala ko pa naman we’ll be celebrating our monthsary na kami lang. Ok lang naman na kasama namin sa mga lakad sila Lexi and Rick. Masaya nga kaming apat dahil super bonding everytime. Kaya lang, siyempre iba naman kapag special day niyo diba? Hindi ko maiwasan magtampo kay Kris. Haay naku Joyce, tigilan na ang inarte. Good vibes dapat.
The following day, ang aga dumating ni Lexi sa bahay.
Lexi: JOYCE!!! Ready ka na? Malapit na mag-7. Padating na sila! Bilisan mo na!
Joyce: Sis, ang aga aga, ang ingay mo! Ready na ko kanina pa.
Lexi: Sabi ko nga. Uy, by the way, happy 24!
Joyce: Awww, thanks sis. Ikaw din advance happy 25!
Lexi: Oo nga no? Haha. Muntik ko na makalimutan! Monthsary nga pala namin ni RIck bukas.
