Sunny opened her eyes slowly. She coughed and yawned. Where was she?
While she didn't know that. She knew something else. She felt horrible. Her throat was extremely dry. Her bones ached. But surprisingly, despite all the other symptoms. She did not feel exhausted. In fact, she felt quite well rested.
She blinked a few times to get a better view of what was going on. Clay was staring her right in the face.
Suddenly his ears went up. "TSUNAMI! SHE'S AWAKE!" Clay looked back down at Sunny with tears in his eyes.
Sunny looked around and realized she was lying down.
Tsunami rushed into view. Shoving Clay out of the way, she jumped on to Sunny and wrapped her claws around her neck.
Sunny gasped for air as the large and muscular seawing knocked the wind out of her. "Please, I'm all for hugs but get off of me."
Tsunami jumped off. "I know, it's just. I'm glad your okay. Okay?
Sunny made a small chuckle. "Okay Tsunami."
Sunny felt the dryness in her throat again. "Umm, anyone got some water? I'm really thirsty."
Clay came back over. "Yeah we're prepared for that." He had a small bowl of water in his claws. "They told us you'd be."
They? Who was they? What in the world had happened. The last thing Sunny remembered she was walking by Tsunami's room.
"Um," Sunny said nervously. "Who exactly is, they?"
Tsunami and Clay gave her both strange looks. "What do you mean "Who is they?" Tsunami said narrowing her eyebrows, clearly a little confused.
"Wait." Clay said. "Do you not remember anything Sunny?"
Sunny shook her head. "No."
Tsunami leaned in closer. "What exactly do you remember?"
Sunny looked at Clay's claws. "I think I'd want some water first." She said hoarsely.
"Oh Right!" Clay said. "Um, you might want to stand up first."
Sunny slowly sat up. There was a kink in her shoulder that throbbed a bit. "Yikes!" She said before slowly relaxing and taking the bowl from Clay's claws.
She tipped the bowl towards her open mouth. The water was cold and clear. The second it hit her throat she began to gulp it down. It felt so good to have water running down her throat.
Suddenly the bowl was ripped from her claws and water flew back against her face. After Blinking a few times she saw Clay holding the bowl, dark lines on the side from dripping water.
"Clay! Why did you take it back?"
"They also told us not to let you water log." He said giving a worried look.
Tsunami turned to him. "They did? What even is that?"
Clay looked at Tsunami. "It means she drinks the water so fast she chokes, throws it up, losing more water then she was going to gain by drinking the water we we're giving her."
"Oh." said Tsunami looking from Sunny to Clay. "Yeah that wouldn't be good. Good thing we're not stupid enough to let her do that right?"
Clay looked at Tsunami confused. "Yeah. I mean it's terrible, that choking is even possible. I mean even the best thing in the world can kill us. Except mangoes I'd think. They're so gushy I think it's impossible to choke on one!" He smiled. "Good thing too, I mean. That would be horrible if you we're eating the best food in the world, and suddenly you started dying!"
Sunny laughed, while Tsunami rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"Right Clay. Sure." Starflight walked over a smile on his face.
"DUMMIE!" Tsunami roared in his face. "Sunny's awake now! Aren't you gonna say hi?"
"Oh right!" Starflight said chuckling a little. "Uh hey Sunny! You glad I'm alive?" His ears folded a little against his head as he gave a small smile looking down at her, even though he couldn't see.
Sunny looked at the three of them. "What does he mean by that?"
"Crap!" Tsunami said face palming. "Starflight, she doesn't remember how she got here. I don't even think she knows where she is!"
"Oh..." Starflight paused looking nervous. "Sorry, my bad."
"Tsunami." Sunny said. "What happened that your so nervous about?"
"Well," Clay said.
"WAIT!" Tsunami yelled. "I think, we can all agree that's a story for another time?
"Sure Tsunami Sure." Starflight said. He probably would've rolled his eyes if he could.
Sunny laughed. It wasn't often that they just got to hang out like this. Sunny could only imagine the kind of antics the students we're participating in right now, but honestly she didn't care.
Soon Clay started laughing with her a smile on his face. A smile that as of recent events, Sunny hadn't too often. She missed that smile.
Starflight began laughing as well.
"OH GET THAT BIG STUPID GRIN OFF YOUR FACE!" Tsunami shouted at him.
Starflight only chuckled more. He didn't laugh too often, but you could tell he really was happy when he did.
Tsunami turned her back on them, a smug look on her face. But soon she cracked and started laughing along with them.
"Come on!" Sunny shouted. "We might as well hug!" She stretched out her small wings.
Clay opened his wings to wrap around his friends as well.
Soon Tsunami with a smile and a shake of her head joined in.
Starflight sat outside of the group hug. Blushing and a little nervous to accept the offer.
"Oh come on!" Both Sunny and Tsunami shouted at the same time. They laughed.
"Seriously Starflight." Clay said. "Just join in the hug."
Starflight took a stepforward and opened his wings to wrap around his friends.
"Oh, if only Glory were hear, you know?" He said.
Sunny smiled. "Yeah that would be nice. But there's always our birthday! We can make sure to give her the BIGGEST hug ever!"
They all laughed at the idea. But smiled at the fact that surely it would happen and would be a lasting memory.
In that moment. There was no worries. Just smiles, just laughs, just them, there, laughing again.
