Harper's PoV (ShortChapter)
"Well I'll have to ask her about that one." My mum said as I turned the corner. I stopped walking as I realised she was talking to my father.
Ugh, why does he not get the message. I don't want to speak to him, at all.
I decided not to actually make myself visible to my mother incase she decides to put me on the phone with him.
"Meeting your girlfriend? I don't think Harper's ready for that?" My mum said abruptly.
'Harper', 'meeting' and 'girlfriend'. In the same sentence is not a good idea.
My phone pinged and I quickly went for my phone to turn it off, I caught sight of who texted me.
Luke.
This was like the 10th time he'd tried to text me, not to mention all the times he's tried to call and left voicemails on my answer machine.
"Harper, I know you're there." My mother said sternly.
I sighed and walked from the corner so my mother could be able to see me. I smiled brightly at her. "Oh hey girl, didn't see you there, what's new?"
She pointed to the phone "Maybe the fact your father wants to talk about you possibly meeting his girlfriend."
"Yeah, that's not happening." I stated confidently.
My mother gave me a stern look "Don't test me Harper Dixon. You will talk to your dad this instance."
I cuffed my hand around my ear and started walking to the bottom of the stairs "Oh what's that Bobbie? You want my help with . . . counting your socks? I'm on my way."
I turned to my mother and shrugged, giving her a sarcastic, sympathetic look "Sorry I'm not able to speak. Tell him I'll talk next time cos' when a brother calls for help, he needs some help."
I then started off up the stairs. I pledge to meet my father's girlfriend on the 31st of February under an onion tree. So I'll schedule that in my diary for . . .
. . . Never.

Luke's PoV
"I don't see why you had to put your nasty paw prints in my glove compartment." I growled at Bree as we entered the school.
Bree rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry next time I'll wear gloves when you tell me to look for gum in there."
"Hey, we shouldn't go into details on who said what exactly." I said cockily whilst pulling out my phone.
I sent maybe the 14th text message to Harper, reading them over and over in my mind before pressing send. They were all like the rest;
Speak to me, I really wanna talk.
There was a difference with this one though. She actually replied. She told me to meet with her at the side of the school.
"You going to them?" Bree asked me. I looked to where she was pointing to see some of the guys there.
I shook my head. "Nah I've somewhere to be."
Bree laughed a little. "In school? I hope you're not doing something with one of the younger teachers."
I waved my hand dismissively putting up with her wild imagination. "Of course not."
"Oh so it's the older women you're into?" She asked wiggling her brows.
I laughed, throwing my head back as I walked away. "You know what? Never say never."

"Thanks for meeting me." I said as I slyly walked into the gap between the edge of the school and the large, grey fence surrounding it.
Harper nodded looking down at her shoes. "No problem." She mumbled.
I sighed "Harp, why are you being so awkward."
This made her head snap up, her eyes slowly narrowed in slits "Why am I being awkward? Luke I told you I love you and you didn't say anything back. I think that's a reason to act awkward."
I grabbed her hands squeezing them tightly in mine "Harper I love you."
She gave me a doubtful look "You're only saying it now because you feel bad."
I let go of her hands placing my mine on her waist to draw her closer "Harper I truly love you, I may have loved you all this time and I didn't even know. But one thing I do know is that you're more intelligent and more gorgeous than I could even imagine. I love you."
I watched her intently as a large smile formed on her lips. She wrapped her small hands were around my neck pulling me down a little. I chuckled as I engulfed her in a hug. "Come to Bree's party tomorrow night."
She released me and looked at me raising a brow questioningly "What are you planning?" She mused.
I grinned "Bree's party is tomorrow. Come to my room and we can hang out, just you and me."
"You and me huh?" She asked a teasing tone sounding in her voice.
I smirked "Just you and me. But just say you're not mad at me anymore."
She rolled her eyes playfully "Listen, I'm not mad. I love you, how can I be?"
"So you'll come to the party?" I asked hopefully.
She rocked back and forth on the tips of her feet, a big grin on her face "I wouldn't miss it for the world baby."
