"Harper you've put it off long enough, you need to tell me how you and your boyfriend made it official." Maya pleaded. I playfully rolled my eyes at the nine year old girl I usually babysat.

I sent her a frown. "Maya, I don't get paid to babysit you for us to talk about my love life."

She looked at my innocently and grinned with her two front teeth missing. "Of course not. Talking about your love life is just a bonus."

I sighed and sat back in the sofa. "Come on, do you really wanna know how all of it started?"

She nodded eagerly, her eyes widening with a pleasing look. "Please, please tell me."

I ran my hand through my hair and nodded. "Okay, I'll tell you, so first it started off by--"

"Wait!" Maya snapped abruptly as she hold her petit hand up to stop me.

I arched a brow curiously to which Maya.   sent me a mischievous smirk. "Harper sweetie, you have a love story, you need to give it a title." She sing-songed as she danced around..

I sighed, scanning my brain for a good name. "Ok call it, Falling for my bestfriends brother."

She nodded approvingly. "It's a good enough title, I like it. Now, let's get on with the story."

I grinned and grasped my hands together. "Right the story, so what happened was..."

Harper's PoV

" . . . Harper, your dad's on the phone." My mother yelled from downstairs.

I sighed and slowly walked down the stairs dreading the call. To describe my dad and I's relationship, it would be something like forced or uninteresting.

Once I reached my mother she held out the phone for me to take. I reluctantly took the phone placing it against ear. "Hello?" I asked waiting for his reply.

My eyes widened. "Lunch? Today?" I looked up at my mother for guidance but she just ushered me to keep talking. I sighed and said the first thing that came to mind. "Look . . . sorry I can't. I-I promised I'd hang out with my friend today."

"Which one? Um . . . Bree?" I answered but it came out more like a question.

I nodded after hearing his reply but then realised he couldn't see me. "Yeah next time for sure, bye." I said hanging up before he could say anything else.

I turned to my mother to see her looking less than impressed. "What?" I asked even though I knew the answer.

"You can't keep blowing off your father like that." She said sternly.

I rolled my eyes. "He cheated on you, he's not really my favourite person."

Yeah my dad cheated on my mum with his current girlfriend. He expects me to still have the same relationship with him and wants me to get to know his new lady but I blow him off everytime.
I'm just not ready for that.

My mother sighed. "Just because things didn't work out with you father and I, doesn't mean you have to lose your dad and he's loses his daughter."

I scoffed heading back up the stairs. "That's exactly what it means."

"Uh, Harper what are you doing?" My mum asked as I was half way up the stairs. I turned to her. "I'm going back to my bed." I said stating the obvious.

My mother folded her arms and shook her head disapprovingly. "If you're going to blow off your father, I expect you to actually go to Bree's house."

I gave her an incredulous look. "You're not being serious are you?"

She tapped her foot against the floor board impatiently waiting for me to go and get out of my pyjamas.

I sighed and started walking back up the stairs, calling after to her. "I'll be getting changed if you need me."

It was cold outside.

No, in fact it's more than cold outside, it was chucking down cats and dogs.

I quickly knocked on the door ignoring the shivers running down my spine.

I mentally sighed when the front door swung open. "Luke, sorry to interrupt but is Bree here?" I asked as the rain drenched me more than ever.

He shrugged throwing his hands in his front pockets. "Nah she's gone out with Brec and Bethany."

I nodded slightly frowning. "Oh okay, I guess I'll go then."

I turned around walking back into the rain, which looked like it was stopping no time soon.

I sighed ready for the long journey back home ahead. "You didn't drive here?"

Luke asked me, which made my feet stop walking and turn back to him.

I shook my head shivering slightly. "Uh no, my mother dropped me."

"So you were gonna walk back home, in the rain?" He asked a frown placing on his lips.

I shrugged like it was no big deal. "It's not that far to walk."

Luke sighed. "Harper, I'm not gonna let you walk home in the rain. Bree's been gone for quite a while. She's probably on her way home already. You can stay and wait here if you want."

I smiled slightly, appreciating his kind gesture. "Yeah, thanks."

Luke nodded and showed me to the lounge. He gestured for me to take a seat but I just stared at the expensive couch. "What?" He asked wearily.

"Um, I'm soaking, I don't wanna get your sofa all wet." I explained.

He nodded and disappeared out of the room for a few seconds. He came back with a large towel and spread it across the chair. "There." He said smiling to himself.

I nodded grateful and mumbled a thank you before sitting down.

"I'll get a t-shirt and jogging bottoms." Luke said turning to go out the door.

"What for?" I asked making him stop.

He looked at me slightly amused. "You can't stay in those wet clothes, you can borrow some of Bree's."

I smiled. "Thank you." He smiled back at me before leaving.

Luke's PoV

I ran upstairs into Bree's room and grabbed a pair of grey sweatpants and a baggy t-shirt from her draw.

I walked back downstairs to give them to Harper.

I walked into the lounge to see her on her phone. Harper was no doubt really good looking with her shiny blonde hair and her intriguing green eyes.

"Uh Luke, are you okay?" Harper asked slightly worried. I came out of my thoughts to realise she was no longer looking down at the screen, instead she was looking up at me.

"Yeah why wouldn't I be?" I asked nervously.

"Well . . . you were kinda just staring at me." She said shyly.

My eyes widened and I chucked the clothes to her. "N-no I wasn't. There's a bathroom down the hall, remotes on the table and I'll be in my room."

I then quickly ran out and up the stairs.

Well that went well.
