I couldn’t believe what I had just seen. I mean I knew Finn was a flirt but he also knew I had feelings for Zoe. Practically everyone knew to be honest; I don’t know how she didn’t know… Or maybe she did? That was why she was all over Finn. Jack and Finn had changed recently though, they had been hanging around with Sam Pepper and it wasn’t that I didn’t like Sam but he always got everyone into trouble. He also liked Zoe, urgh.
Angrily I stomped around the block and tried to calm myself down. Maybe I had been a bit full on with Zoe; inviting myself to stay at hers for Christmas. Snow started falling down around me and I wished I brought my coat. The streets were dead, not a single person was out I wasn’t surprised though it was freezing. I headed back towards Zoes apartment. When a thought hit me. Ring Louise. I pulled out my phone and dialed her number to get an immediate answer.
“Hey Alf” she said cheerily, I could hear Darcy in the back squealing and shouting ‘Afie Afie’ she couldn’t quite get the ‘l’ out, but it sounded adorable.
“Hey look Louise I don’t know what to do, I and Zoe were having the nicest time, and I actually thought she liked me. I’m so angry with her Louise why would she do this?”
“Hold up there, what did you say? Have you and chummy fallen out?” Louise sounded confused and suddenly worried.
“I planned to go away with her yesterday, we’re going with Tan and Jim and everything was fine, I even got a kiss on the cheek and we had a nice morning and then she asks if Finn can come round, so I agree but when he comes she is all over him! What did I do wrong Louise” I needed to calm down; I could feel the tears welling up and a lump appeared in the back of my throat.
“Oh gosh... So where are you now?” she sounded like she was moving, I heard a car start.
“Around the back of her apartment” I hoped Louise wasn’t going to drive all the way here, I didn’t want to take her away from Darcy on Christmas.
“Alfie go get your stuff from her apartment and catch the next train to my house, deal? Tell Matt what happened and I’m staying with Zoe. If you see her in her apartment don’t say anything but don’t ignore her okay?”
“Loui-“ I was cut off by Louise.
“Just do it Alfie” and she hung up.
Startled I started to walk towards the entrance of the building; I wonder why Louise was so urgent? Before I knew it I was outside the door, I sent a quick text to Louis asking him to let me in and before I knew it Louis has answered the door and was hugging me.
“Hey mate, what’s up?” I guessed my eyes betrayed me as he looked at me with a sad expression; I sighed and told him Louis was on her way and I was to stay there.
“Come with me Louis? God I need someone to talk to”
“Sure do you want me to get your stuff?” thank god Louis was used to travelling about, he didn’t even bat an eyelid at the 3 hour train journey. Louis was a good friend and I was glad I had him.
The next few hours flew by and I and Louis soon arrived at Louise’s, it was late by this point so it was time to sleep. I took the sofa bed and Louis took the couch. As I lay down I suddenly felt alone, spending the past few days with Zoe and not done me good.
I couldn’t go on like this it was just a silly crush but as I started to imagine life without her tears rolled down my cheek. I brushed them away angry at myself. How could I left myself fall for Zoe like this?
