Lady Gayle took another sip of her drink as she heard the door opened to her suite. She didn't need to look to know who it was. She could sense him.
"So I take it you have no news either," she scoffed as she stared at her huge hotel window.
Agent Pratt walked into the living room portion of the suite where Lady Gayle was and sat down on one of the couch set. He exhaled a deep breath but didn't say anything.
"This is not looking good," Lady Gayle informed.
Pratt put his right hand to his temple and shook his head. "You got another one of this." He used his other hand to point at the wine glass she was holding.
Lady Gayle nodded and walked over to the minibar to pour the agent a drink.
"So what do you have?" Lady Gayle inquired as she prepared the drink.
"A lot of nothing," Agent Pratt said. "People say this then can't confirm. I swear you think this would be easy. His face is plastered all over the news and the papers. He should have been caught by now. My office is looking like true idiots on this one."
Lady Gayle didn't speak just handed Pratt the drink.
"But I knew we'll get him," Pratt assured. "I have another press conference coming up. This time I'm going to drive it home how dangerous this man is."
Lady Gayle smirked. "He's not dangerous, just cocky."
"Well, that cockiness seems to be his lucky charm," Pratt reasoned.
Lady Gayle sat beside him on the couch. "Remember what you promised me."
"And we'll deliver," Pratt stated. "We just need..."
"No, remember what you promised me," Lady Gayle clarified.
She placed her hand on his knee.
Pratt just looked at her for a second then got up off the couch.
"I don't think I can do that anymore," Pratt informed guzzling down the drink in his hand.
Lady Gayle looked shocked at first. "Why not?"
"Look, things are different now," Pratt tried to explain. "Higher ups are looking into things now. I'm getting a lot of slack."
"So what are you saying?" Lady Gayle sounded annoyed.
"I'm saying that some promised that were made may not be kept," Pratt admitted. "We both want the same thing. I know what the Bureau wants. But since you've been in hiding, we can't get what needs to be done and you are no help to us like that."
"You mean this bullseye on my forehead isn't enough for you," Lady Gayle said.
"I mean you used one of ours to make you and yes, in turn, it was help bring a bigger fish which you did," Pratt said. "But things have changed. Everything is changing."
Lady Gayle got up from the couch in a huff. "So all this was for nothing. I'm dead in the damn water. Do you know what I put on the line? Do you know what you promised me? Do you know what I am supposed to have right now?"
Pratt nodded. "I know full hearted what was offered and what was expected but the spectrum has changed. Federal agent's death, an escape convict on the loose, is too much too grasp and now things have to be reverted."
"This woman is someone you don't play with," Lady Gayle informed. "She will find me. And I know she has my daughter."
Pratt nodded at the notion.
