{Song for this chapter; Somebody That I Use to Know - Mayday Parade ft. Vic Fuentes}

• Emilia's pov •

I sat down on the bench, just sitting there, watching the beautiful trees move back and forth with the wind. I sighed, pulling my phone out of my back pocket. "I miss you," a text from Mandy read. "When are you coming home?"

This is home, I thought, regretting my words instantly. It wasn't, really. New York is my home. My friends are there. I don't have any friends here. Only family. That's just what I need, actually. A friend. Just a short-period friend. One that won't be heart broken when I travel back to New York.

I tried to push my thoughts away and replied back to Mandy. "Soon. I promise :) Love you<33."

Mentally giggling, I set my phone in between my thighs. Mom and Craig wouldn't be home for another four hours, considering it was only six. Which reminds me, I haven't exactly eaten dinner yet. I sighed, thinking about walking back home, against the wind.

I stood up, dusting off my jeans and stuffing my phone into my back pocket again. "Woah--" a person muttered, bumping into me, something falling out of their hands as they knocked me over. I groaned, continuing to sit on the damp ground. My jeans probably had horrible grass stains now. Way to go, Em. You ruined your god damn jeans, I thought.

Looking across from me I saw my book. It was opened to the back of the book and I saw my name. My real name. I snatched it, throwing it to the other side of me, taking the stranger's hand and allowing them to help pull me up. "Next time, watch where you're going, asshole--Tony?" My eyes where wide as I continued staring at him. Well, morally his eyes. Man, they're pretty.

Tony smiled, letting go of my hand. "Emilia," he said, recognizing me instantly. He looked down at the ground where I set my book. He bent down, picking it up. "Here. I was looking for you all over town. Thought you might want this back." He held my book out for me to take.

"Well, I do want it back," I said slowly, taking my book back. "And thank you for making such an effort to get my book back to me. I've had this for a really long time." I smiled nicely, looking down at my book. It now had a bit of a dent in the front cover.

I looked back up at Tony. He was scratching the back of his neck, a nervous look on his face. "I'm sorry about the dent. Why don't you let me explain over dinner?" he asked the last part quietly, removing his hand from the back of his neck.

"I don't know. I--"

"Don't you dare say no," a voice sassily replied, interrupting my sentence. Mandy. "You know you need to do this, Em. Not for you, but for him. If you say no, I will beat your ass when you get back to New York. Understood?"

I mentally nodded, sighing aloud. "Sure. What'd you have in mind?" Tony looked up from the ground, a huge smile on his face.

"I was thinking pizza, but if you don't like it, it's fine. We can go someplace else. I don't mind," he said nervously, grinning.

I shook my head. "No, it's fine. I love pizza, actually."

~x~x~x~x~

I laughed, throwing my head back and snoring by accident, which caused Tony to laugh harder. "I can't believe you just snorted!" he shouted, laughter irrupting from him again.

"Well, I can't believe you actually did that," I said once our laughter died down. Tony had just told me the story about him running into a store with a black ski mask on, half drunk. I found it hilarious but he didn't laugh once. Apparently he's heard it a lot.

I took a piece from the pizza he bought. The cheese was overflowing on top of the pizza. My favourite. "Yeah, the boys and I have been though a lot of crazy stuff. There's a lot more where that came from."

"Oh," I said, taking a bite out of my pizza. "You mean the band?" I hated having to pretend I didn't know all this stuff. It really sucks. He told me how he's met a lot of girls who just want fame from him, and he honestly believes that I'm not one. I feel bad about lying, but I keep telling myself that I'm doing this for him. Not me. Him. Just him.

Tony ate his pizza with a smile on his face, nodding. "You know," he said, smiling big at the pizza that sat in the middle of us. "I've never laughed that much in a while. Thank you."

I looked up at him, smiling when he looked up, too. "You're welcome." My smile started to fade as I gulped, staring at my pizza. I hate lying. Especially to the people I love. I mean, use to love. Yeah, use to love.

"I need to ask you something but I'm not sure if you'll know, but give it a shot, okay?" I nodded, smiling at his nervousness, putting my pizza down and taking a sip of my water. "Well, do you by any chance know a girl named Halley? Halley Newton?"

I sucked a big gulp of water down when he said my name, which caused me to start choking. Tony picked up a napkin, wiping up the little bit of water that fell from my mouth. When my coughing calmed down, Tony asked, "Are you alright?" I nodded, trying to change the subject from his last question.

"Yeah, don't worry I choke. . .a lot?" I said, saying it more of a question than an answer.

He laughed. "That's great?" Tony replied, doing the same thing as me. "Anyway, about that that question. . ." he trailed off, an unknowing look on his face.

What do I say? At times like this, I wish Mandy was in my head, directing my every move. Where are you when I need you the most? I wish I could just call her right now, but boy would that be awkward.

I pretended to think about it for awhile, shrugging afterwards. "Sounds familiar, actually. Does she live around here?" I asked, a fake smile planted on my face.

He nodded. "She use to live around where I walked you home. Unless she moved. I haven't seen her in awhile." Tony stared at his plate, his smile gone. What does this mean? He still cares?

"Oh, hell to the no," Mandy's voice replied. I rolled my eyes. Great, she's back. "After what he did? This boy can not be trusted. Not yet, at least." One moment she wants me to make a move, the next she doesn't. I really don't understand anymore.

"I'm sorry, Tony. I don't think I know her." The lies just keep coming, don't they?
