{Song for this chapter; My Understandings - Of Mice & Men}

I couldn't believe I just said those words. He cheated on me and I still love him? It made no sense. When my father died, my mother use to always say; "You will always love your first love even if they leave, cheat, or even go to heaven." even after she found my step-father, Craig. Tony was my first love and that's why I can't forget about him. Which made me wonder if I was Tony's first love. If I was, then why hadn't he came to look for me, or even ran out that door after me the night we broke up?
The door's bell rang again, signalling Tony left. I bolted out to the store area and hugged Mandy like there was no tomorrow. "I still love him, Mandy," I whispered into her shoulder, tears falling from my ocean blue eyes.
She started to rub my hair, kinda like Tony use to. "I know, Em. I know." And she really did know. Which was why she covered for me. She's not just my boss, she's my friend. "Now, tell me," she said when we stopped hugging. "What did he say to you that made you on the edge of tears?" She took her right thumb and wiped my tears away.
"He asked me if I was a fan," I answered, avoiding Mandy's eyes. "He forgot me."
Mandy shook her head sadly. "Em, listen to me," she said, lifting up my chin. "You've changed, correct?"
I nodded. "A lot."
"Then maybe he just didn't recognize you. Trust me, Emilia, he's changed too--"
"A lot," I added on, thinking about his new tattoos, longer hair, and removed snakebites.
"Right, a lot, but that doesn't mean he forgot you," I nodded, seeing her point in this. "People change and it's for the better, Em."
So, if people change, did Tony change? Did he really not forget me? So many questions that I really want the answer to.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Emilia just had something to do, but how can I help you?" the other sales women asked. I could sense a bit of a fake tone in her voice. She didn't seem happy. I shrugged it off, though.
"Do you, by any chance, have any strong guitar picks? Mine keep on breaking, constantly," I said, stuffing my hands in my pockets.
She nodded, holding up her index finger. "One second, okay?"
I nodded, watching her duck beneath the counter, searching for something. A couple minutes later, she came back up with a small box. Something inside, I'm guessing guitar picks, rattled around when she set the box on the glass counter. She opened it to reveal about thirty guitar picks, all different colours.
"These are ultra-strong guitar picks. They should, at least, last you five months. Choose any colour you like," she said, smiling.
I smiled back, picking two green and two black guitar picks, four in total. I set them down and she totalled the cost on the register. "That's ten eighty-five." There was a cry from the back room and the sales women's eyes went wide.
I tried to ignore it for the girl's sake but I couldn't. "Is she okay?" I asked, assuming it was the other sales women who was crying.
The girl in front of the glass counter shut her eyes together tightly, shaking her head, sadly. "No, no she isn't."
I nodded, deciding not to butt in. "Here you go," I said, taking a twenty dollar bill out and giving it to her. She was about to get me my change, but I stopped her. "Keep the change." I picked up my four guitar picks and walked out the front door, the bell ringing when I left.
"Dude, what took you so long?" Mike asked, putting his arm around my shoulder.
I looked back at the store, seeing the two workers hugging each other like no tomorrow through the glass windows. I sighed and turned back to Mike. "Had to chose the right guitar picks, man."
I knew inside that there was something going on in there. I so badly wanted to go back in, but I knew they were busy. Wouldn't want to ruin that and maybe make them more nervous than they already were. Was I the only costumer that they did that too? I was confused, but I could tell something was up.
Mike and I entered our tour bus, continuing on the next stop; home.
