=====
Midnight ushered in and Jingyu relished the fact that despite his hectic schedule, he managed to get away and do what he loved best - walk about in public in the dead of night and drink by the roadside. He's walking back to his hotel now, his throat and belly warm with the aftertaste of beer he'd enjoyed in that roadside barbecue place, the night breeze ruffling his already mussed hair.
The place was only frequented by locals either on or off their way to work, mostly construction and office workers either taking a meal and drink, or just enjoying a night out. Jingyu just let the cacophony wash over him, careful to keep himself facing away from the crowd, lest somebody recognized who he is. But it doesn't bother him, knowing that this city has yet to realize what Huang Jingyu's presence meant. He's actually thankful the horde of fans and paparazzi hadn't managed to follow him here yet.
So he was absentmindedly walking in the night, the occasional light throwing his face in stark relief against the dark, when he heard the distinct "Meow" by his feet. He stopped in his tracks, momentarily stupefied as he looked down at the white cat that started weaving in and out between his ankles, rubbing itself all over his calves, purring in satisfaction. Jingyu bewilderingly looked about him for the owner, noting how the cat wasn't collared, finding himself alone on the street. When he looked by his feet again, the cat had settled on its stomach on the road, just right beside the sidewalk they both stopped on.
Jingyu silently chuckled, deciding to take a picture of the cat from his vantage. He mulled a few more minutes before he uploaded the image to his instagram and posted it with a message "wanna stay with me?" The post shows up at exactly 12:40 AM.
He bent down to pet the cat, but as with all imperious felines, this one let him scratch its ears, neck and body before it ultimately hissed and scampered away. Oh well, Jingyu thought, their kind never really did stick around when it didn't want to - they'll stay or go as they please, one can only enjoy the moment they'd stick around.
Jingyu got back to the hotel and took his flight back to Beijing later that day, not really caring how he set the internet on fire with that post. Of course he knew the allusion to a certain cat in his life. He just didn't expect the cat to show up outside his door a short while after he just got back to his Beijing apartment.
Weizhou was standing outside his door when he opened it, an unsure look on his face, fidgeting at the straps of the overnight bag slung over his shoulders. Weizhou just peeked up at him with an uncertain look. "I..." Weizhou started to say.
"Zhouzhou! Come on, come on in," Jingyu cut him off. They both ignored the fact that Jingyu had already reached in and pulled Weizhou by the wrist, releasing him only when Weizhou was safely inside and Jingyu shut the door behind him. They also both ignored the fact that all the while Jingyu acted nonchalant taking the bag of his sudden houseguest, Weizhou was intently looking onto his face. Jingyu just hopes he wasn't turning red with all the attention.
"Have you already had dinner?" Jingyu asked Weizhou as he led the way to his bedroom, placing Weizhou's bag at the only empty space in his wardrobe.
Weizhou silently shook his head.
"Good! I'm just about to have dinner, too. How about you go take a shower and change while I make us something."
"I can help..."
"Relax, Zhouzhou," Jingyu said, pinching Weizhou's left cheek. Weizhou slightly frowned. "Just make yourself comfortable, ok? I'll have something warm for us by the time you're done." It didn't escape Jingyu's notice that a bone-seated tiredness was plaguing Weizhou.
Weizhou finally nodded.
Dinner consisted of heated up ginger-chicken porridge and microwaved pizza. Jingyu never really minded how his manager stocked up his Beijing apartment with food for Jingyu's off days, but he greatly appreciated the porridge - the smell alone made Jingyu's stomach rumble. Good thing he only had to wait a short while before Weizhou came out his bedroom dressed in pajamas and a towel over his wet hair. He ignored Jingyu as he went straight for the porridge and deeply inhaled the delicious scent.
