Chapter 23

You arrived in the street your parents lived in. You could remember it all. The corner shop/store on the end, that little house with the black door, the whole in the road that never got fixed and your old home.
"That's it there" you said pointing to a brown house with a white door. There was 2 cars in the driveway, a grey Audi and a black BMW. There was still a tree in your back garden where you used to have a treehouse but the tree house was gone. Calvin parked just outside the house and turned off the car.
"I don't know if I can do this... What do I say? What if they don't recognise me what if my dad-"
"Y/n! We've been over this a thousand fucking times, your gonna be fine ok. I'll be there with you, don't panic." Calvin said and kissed your cheek.
"Ok" you sighed "let's do this" you smiled at Calvin and hopped out the car.

You walked up the driveway breathing carefully with Calvin right behind you. You reached the door and just braced yourself to knock. You turned round and tried to run back to the car but before you could even go a couple steps Calvin knocked the door.
"Oh my god Calvin what are you doing?!" You whispered
"Uhh knocking the door so they know we're here"
"Don't be fucking sarcastic right now ya little shit" you said turning to the door, Calvin laughed.

You were about to knock again but before you could the door swung open. You could feel the anxiety building up but you tried not to show it. There was a women, about 50 years old standing at the door. She had long-ish grey hair, wrinkles everywhere, her skin was dark and her teeth were yellow. You were sure it was your mum but she didn't really look the same.
"Mom?" You said with a shaky voice "uh-it-um it's uh me, y/n, your daughter that you uh haven't seen in like f-four years" you smiled awkwardly.
"Holy shit, really?" Your mum said, her eyes glowing
(yes I know I said mom and then mum I'm from the Uk so it's only when characters are speaking will I use "mom")
You smiled.
" yeah it is, and uh, this is calvin, my boyfriend. It was his idea for us to come here" Calvin smiled and put his hand up as a wave
"Yeah hi there. God. Baby, it's been so long, I genuinely thought we would never see each other again." You hugged your mum and started crying a little. You then went inside.
"Your dads just out the back, I'm gonna go to the bathroom excuse me" your mum went out the room and all of a sudden you couldn't control your breathing.
"Yo y/n are you ok? Babe breathe slowly and tell me what's wrong c'mon don't panic every things going great ok" Calvin said holding your hands
"I didn't think my dad would be home, I don't know why. I- we-no- we have to go home I can't face him, Calvin no"
"Woah what the fuck why?"
"When I was ages 8 to like 14 my dad used to get drunk while my mom was on night shift and he would hit me and yell at me. Sometimes he would be sober and still call me names like worthless and he would tell me I should kill myself and you know this scar?" you whispered pointing to your arm. Calvin nodded "well one night he got so mad at me cause I came home late and he gripped his hand so tight around me that his fingers were pinching me so tightly and it tore the skin. He's one of the reasons I have anxiety and panic attacks. I can't face him again."
