Third Person POV
Time was so slow, milliseconds turned into hours, seconds turned into days. It went on like this for too long, the weight on Beth's chest only grew heavier. She'd been in countless situations like this before, fear soaked her mind and anticipation in her veins. This isn't new, but it was the slowness of everything that drove her mad. Not completely, just enough to put her on edge. More than usual, of course.
At first it was nothing, just silence. It'd be too risky to light another one, so she could only hope that they saw it. She could only hope he would save her. There wasn't any immediate danger to be rescued from, just her own fear. Beth wanted to be by his side at all times. There was no doubt that he felt the exact same. They are two long lost puzzle pieces, that may be distorted in more ways than one, but manage to fix together perfectly. They meld into each other, and swim in each other's love. It's bliss.
So when Glenn woke everyone after seeing the firework, Daryl knew it. He just knew it was her. Nothing pathetic like from the movies, that he hopped on his motorcycle then ran to her and declared his endless love for her. No, he grabbed his crossbow, and ran all the way over there because he has no fucking motorcycle. Everyone called after him, not too loudly of course. But he kept running in the direction Glenn pointed.
Glenn followed behind him, and tried to stop but Daryl was almost already there. Beth could here footsteps in the distance, and quietly called out to Daryl, but didn't get the response she wanted. A walker banged upon the door, and broke it down effortlessly. Stupid fucking Jordan didn't secure it good enough. She tried to brace herself, but she was still cuffed to Jordan and pushed him to wake him. He was up and already trying to uncuff both of them, and got it done quickly.
Beth tried to fight against the walker, but it knocked her down. Jordan took on another one entering, and couldn't help Beth. Almost too perfectly, Daryl shot the walker down through a window and raced around to the door. Anger consumed him as he lay eyes on Jordan, and knocked him out with the swing of his crossbow.
"That's not all you're gonna get, bastard," Daryl growled as his body fell lip to the floor.
Daryl ran to Beth and scooped her up in his arms, and kissed her. It was bliss, absolute perfection. It didn't matter how shitty the world was, and how fucked up they both may be, their unspoken love for each other was all they needed.
This moment ended all too soon, for the both of them as Glenn urged them outside. Not a terrible thing, but this kiss was different. It was real, it was pure. They both finally allowed themselves to feel, to care and to love.
