I dashed my way home and made just in time. My father was waiting out front and he didn't look happy.
"Where have you been?" he demanded angrily.
"I was just... looking around getting used to New York" I lied panting.
He eyed me suspiciously then lead me inside. He put an arm around my shoulder and walked me to my room.
"The rules here are very simple. You should remember from when you were a child" he said breaking the silence.
'How could anyone forget?' I thought to myself rolling my eyes.
"Tomorrow you will get your first assignment and I expect you to dress like the warrior I trained you to be" he instructed standing in the doorway.
"But what about school? The deal was I come back and you leave Aunt Mai alone. There was nothing about going back to the way things used to be" I snapped.
He raised a hand and I flinched.
"Do not use words like that against me! You are my daughter and shall do as you are told" he said and put his hand down.
I nodded fearfully and he left me alone. I teared up but shook them away. My phone buzzed and it was Leo.
L: Did u make it home ok?
K: Yeah
L: Great! Can u meet me 2morrow around three?
K: Sure. Why?
L: So I can take u 2 my house
K: Ok. Well goodnight
L: Night :)
No, my father wasn't going to ruin my life. I'm finally in school, have decent grades and am starting to make friends. And no way in heck was anyone taking that away from me.
