Most of the guild glared at me. We were all still quiet and no one wanted to do something to hurt our friendship. Sadly I think that will be a wasted effort. Finally someone said something, "Oriander? You two seemed.. Friendly. Maybe you could tell us what's going on?" Alla asked, or 'did you do something?' put nicely.
"I don't know her, but... I think I've seen her before... Or maybe someone like her, or someone related to her... Hope not... That would be horrible." I rambled quietly. A silent shiver ran through the crowd. I duck my head and stared at my feet.
"Come on Oriander, tell us your connection to her." Erza commanded me, and for those who didn't know her should have thought she was being relax, but that would be wrong. Almost everyone had adopted my nickname, Ori, and that included Erza. She would have used that, but she didn't, meaning that even she was at least on edge.
"I... Ugh, I really can't!" I didn't mean to raise my voice but with every passing minute, a voice in my head said 'they will hate you, if you tell them'.
"What if she's a spy!?"
"Yeah! And what if she's here to find all of our weaknesses?!"
Little pops of distrust, that's what they were.
A brave pinkette spoke up, "Guys, leave her alone, she hasn't done anything wrong! In fact Diana could have said all that so we would think Ori was bad, but she's not! Just give her time-"
"Wait," I interrupt Natsu. I couldn't find words right away but having him have to defend me was pitying. So I stood a took a deep breath trying to steady my heart. It couldn't find the way to beat without shaking me up. "I'll tell you everything, but please don't let it be what changes your view of me... Please."
"Of course," Alla smiled, sweet and calm. She's lucky.
"Alright, I'll just start from the beginning, a thousand years ago."A large temple like building stood on a flat plain. It was doused in sun light from top to bottom. Three small figures stood beneath the tower, one was a short brown haired girl, young no older than 15. Two men stand behind her one, tall, with shoulder length hair that was brown. The other with short, bright, fiery red hair and big smile that went from ear to ear.
"Ori! Look! We finished! We finished Purity's guild hall!" The red head shrieked in excitement.
"I think we heard you Colby, right Hikaru?" Oriander smiled brightly.
"Yeah, sorry Colby, but she's right," Hikaru agreed.
"But look! It's done! We've been working on it for months! It's so cool!" Colby squealed.
"Yeah, and this is only beginning."
Oriander sighed, as the first master there would be a lot of work to do."Wait did you say a thousand years ago? But your only 26, right?" Wendy piped up, confusion thick in her voice.
"Right, but I found a way to bypass the thousand years." I tell her, "anyways, I'll tell you at the end of the story. Now as the months passed our guild became an elitist guild. We only allowed people we could trust, and I personally have a perfect judge of character."Two of the first guild members walked up to the guild masters office, and both had a grim look to them. They just walked in without warning and moved to Oriander's desk. She looked up and asked, "what are you to doing here? Is there an emergency?" The two men stayed silent. "Alright let's go somewhere a bit more comfortable, to talk this out."
They walked downstairs to the main guild hall, and took a nice secluded table. "What's wrong you two? You seem off today are you okay?" Oriander asked. No replies. The air felt heavy around them, and smelled of ash. Nothing made a sound around them. The guild seemed invested in them. Slowly the table felt to hot, and Oriander look down to see it was starting on fire from their fire Mage. He had a lost look on his face, when Oriander backed up against the wall. She could feel the smoothness of it, never scratched. Until then. What a cliffhanger, right?! So now we have some backstory for Oriander! In the next few chapters I will have Cikai appear for the first time. School shouldn't interrupt me. So see you, in the next chapter!
