Because of recent events, Hogwarts had started a duelling club for all students so that they could protect themselves against the person who was petrifying the muggleborns. 

Charlotte had arrived along with Isla and Kathleen. The three of them ushered through the crowd to find the twins. Once they located the two gingers they walked over to them only to see that they were with Angelina and Alicia. So the three walked past and went to stand with Oliver Wood.

"Hello girls, why aren't you with Fred and George!? I rarely see you guys apart?" Oliver asked the 3 girls standing in front of him.

"Well it's a long story Oliver." Kathleen said

"Plus we'd thought we would come and catch up with our favourite Keeper." Isla piped in.

The three soon started up a very animated discussion while Charlotte stood awkwardly while glancing over to the twins every so often. After around a minute Charlotte felt a tap on the back and turned around to see Cedric Diggory.

"How's my favourite Gryffindor?" He asked pulling the girl into a hug.

"This Gryffindor is fine. How's the Hufflepuff?" She replied.

"Hufflepuff is fine. But your not. What's wrong?" Diggory asked while looking very concerned for one of his closest friends. "Is it the Weasley twins?"

Charlotte tried to come up with an excuse but she couldn't.

"So it is them."

"Yes its them! They have both been distant recently. And I know it's not because they are planning a prank because they would have told me, and they have been spending lots of time with Angelina and Alicia. Don't get me wrong I love both of them and I'm not jealous before you say something like that. It's just Angelina has kinds of become the new me and she's been really rude recently and I think she likes Fred but I'm not sure and I'm really confused and annoyed and upset." Charlotte rambled.

"Well it sounds to me like you are jealous Black."

"I'm not Diggory."

"Well do you like Fred?"

"Yes of course I like Fred. What kind of a question is that?"

"I know you like him stupid. But I mean do you like him like that?"

"No, well I don't think I do."

"Well good! Because I want to take you to Hogsmeade. Next weekend. I'll be outside the Gryffindor common room at 10." He said bending down and kissing her on the cheek then waking off to his friends.

Charlotte stood there shocked. With her hand upon her cheek. She looked over to se where Cedric had gone but instead she met the eyes of Fred. Who was staring at his best friend over what he had just witnessed.

Charlotte walked back over to Isla, Kathleen and Oliver just as Lockhart walked on stage to announce the start of the duelling club. Throughout the whole club Charlotte couldn't concentrate. All she could think about was Cedric. Did he ask her on a date!? Charlotte was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Lockhart and Snape announce that Harry and Draco were doing a duel in front of the school.

Everything started out fine until Draco Malfoy shouted Serpent Sorntia. A spell that conjures a snake. Lockhart said he would get rid of the snake, however he was unsuccessful. Snape then said he would try. However before he could get there Harry started speaking to the snake. Everyone was scared and stared to back away except for Justin Finch-Fletchley and Charlotte Black. Charlotte could understand what Harry was saying and started speaking in parseltounge as well.

After the 5 minute shock of the children who lived being able to speak to snakes. Snape had got rid of the snake, when Justin started to yell at the two for egging the snake on to attack him. However Charlotte and Harry were doing the opposite they were stopping the snake from attacking. After this little escapade the duel club had been swiftly brought to a halt. And the children present were ushered out of the room back to their common rooms.

"Charlotte, you didn't tell us you were a parseltounge!" Kathleen inquired while slightly raising her voice.

"Well, I was as never really sure if I was. I mean I didn't really want to tell you either. "

"Why would you not want to tell us?" Isla asked

"Being a parseltouge isn't a good thing in case you hadn't realised."

"You really thought we wouldn't be your friends just because you can talk to snakes"

"Yes. I did. And now the whole school knows. Do you think Cedric will still want to go to Hogmseade with me? And now whiny people hate me because it just makes it seem like I can open the chamber of secrets."

"Woah, woah back up! Cedric asked you to Hogsmeade? As in Cedric Diggory?" Kathleen asked

"Yeah, he asked me just before the duelling club started."

"Oh my gosh! When is it you have tell us all the details! Kathleen what is she going to wear? Do you think Cedric will pay?" Isla was getting more excited about it than Charlotte was. While Kathleen and Isla were talking Charlotte managed to slip out of the common room and make it to the library where she saw Cedric and Fred and George.

Completely ignoring the twins she went to be and sit with Cedric.

"Hi, can I sit here?" She asked

"Of course." He said while Charlotte sat down awkwardly and just sat here twiddling her thumbs. Cedric then took her hands in his. "You think I don't like you anymore because of why happened at the duelling club right?"

"Yes. You probably think I'm the heir of Slytherin just like the rest of the school."

"No I don't Charlotte. You cried when you trod on an ant. So I know you wouldn't be able to petrify someone."

"Really?" Charlotte asked

"Really" Cedric replied as he pulled her in for hug. The two just stayed like that for a while talking bout random things. At around 8:30 the two decided to retreat to their common rooms.

On the way to the Gryffindor common room Charlotte saw Harry and she did a little jog in order to keep up just as the two went round the corner they saw Nearly Headless Nick hanging by his neck. And then a few steps away Justin Finch-Fletchley lying on the floor lifeless.

Harry walked up to Justin and put his hand on Justin's. Charlotte grabbed Harry's robe in a feeble attempt to drag him away.

"Harry, c'mon! We have to leave before someone finds us" Charlotte said but it as too late as Minerva McGonnagall had come walking down the corridor.
