"Hi Dr.Quinzel" Dr. Medley said behind me as I stood in front of the coffee machine.
"Hello" I said smiling down at my coffee cup.
" how did your first day go yesterday ?" Dr. Medley whispered playfully as she grabbed a coffee cup pouring coffee into it.
"It was a bit complicated but soon enough he should open up" I said softly , pouring sugar into my cup .
"So who did you get?" Dr. Medley said smiling.
"Some guy named joker" I said shaking my head. Dr. Medley froze and looked at me as if fear has taken over her body.
"Everything ok?" I said putting down my coffee cup on the counter , and placing my hand on her shoulder.
"The board gave the you the joker as your first patient?" Dr. Medley said in disbelief.
"Yes" I said in a concerned tone.
"Oh dear" Dr. Medley said and looked at me as if she was frightened for me.
"What is it?" I said trying to pry out what she was trying to hold back from me.
"He's a murderer ! He doesn't belong here he deserves to be in jail" Dr. Medley said gripping her coffee cup and quickly walked away from me.
A murderer? Why have I not heard about this?
I picked up my coffee cup from off the counter, and walked towards the room where my next session with joker would be. As the guards stood in front of the door , they nodded at me.
"Is he already in there?" I said to the guard, as I grabbed the earpiece he held out towards me.
"Yes m'am" the guard said shaking his head. I opened the door, and joker sat in the same chair from our last session.
"Dr.Quinzel" joker said as he smiles wide.
"Hello Mr.J" I said smiling back as I sat in the chair across from him.
"What do you have for me today?" Joker smirked.
"Today I was thinking we could talk about anything you would want to talk about" I said laying my hands on the table folded.
"I think I would like that" Joker said as he smirked.
"Ok go ahead" I said smiling .
"Let's talk about you" Joker said leaning forward in his strait jacket.
"Ok "I said as I pushed my loose strands of hair behind my ears.
"I really want to know where you're from Doctor" Joker spoke softly.
"Still not allowed to answer that" I said and a small laugh escaped from my lips. Joker kept his eyes pinned on me as if my laugh caught him by surprise.
"Let's play a game" Joker said as he smiled wide showing his silver teeth.
"A game? What kind of game?" I said as I smiled at him shyly.
"A question game...if you answer all my questions ...I'll answer all of yours" Joker said playfully. Apart of me wanted to avoid any kind of game with a man who goes by "joker". But I knew this is the only way I could get the answers I needed.
"Ok let's play" I said nodding my head.
"What's your first name?" Joker said smiling at me.
"It's Harleen" I said shyly as I looked up at him.
"What's your worst fear?" Joker said sternly , giving me a unsatisfying smirk.
"Drowning....I can't swim" I said strongly, and he smiled wide.
"Are you married?" Joker said smiling .
"No....my turn to ask the questions" I said sternly, and joker leaned forward in his chair.
"Why do you have damaged tattooed on your forehead?" I said as I looked up at the tattoo.
"To remind an old friend what I've done to him in the past" joker laughs, and his unusual laugh makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
"Do you have other tattoos that have meaning?"I said looking at the tattoo of a card that peeked out for under the strait jacket.
"Doctor It seems to me you are a bit interested with what's on my body" Joker smiles at me seductively , making me blush a little.
"That's not an answer" I said trying to change the subject.
"All of them have meaning" Joker said tilting his head.
"What did you do to end up in Arkham?" I said quietly , hoping he would respond.
"Mr.batman didn't seem to like my jokes" Joker said and laughed hysterically.
"What jokes?" I whispered .
"Looks like you're questions are over doc" Joker whispered , and smiled wide.
"I guess you're right" I sighed.
"What?" Joker said sternly.
"I was just looking forward to knowing more about you " I confessed.
Joker smiled at me softly ,and our eyes met for a slight second.
"What would you really like to know Harleen?" Joker smiled as he tilted his head to get a good view of my face expression.
"Your relationship with batman?" I said grabbing the pen and note pad from off the table.
"He completes me...the reason I look forward to another day" Joker laughs as he completed his sentence.
"Why is that?" I said as I wrote down on the notepad his last response.
"Who else am I going to have fun with...without him I'm just stuck taking money from thugs and what's fun in that?" Joker laughs. I write down his every word on the note pad, and look up at him as his eyes stayed fixed on me.
"What?" I said smiling as his eyes stayed on me.
"Something different about you Dr.Quinzel" Joker said as he smiled at me softly.
"Like what?" I said smiling as I pushed my glasses up on my face.
"I'm not quite sure yet" Joker said softly.
"How about we make a deal?" I said trying to compromise.
"I'm listening " Joker whispered.
"If you promise to answer all my questions tomorrow I'll take the strait jacket off " I said smiling widely.
"Looks like you got yourself a deal" Joker laughed and I giggled.
"Sessions over m'am" The guard said in the earpiece.
"Looks like our session is over" I said standing up from my chair , as I walked towards the door.
"Farewell Dr. Quinzel" Joker smiled as I exit the room. As I walked out I handed the guard my earpiece , and smiled.
"I hope he isn't giving you a hard time" the guard said right before I got a chance to walk away.
"No everything is going great" I smiled.
"Ok good" the guard said, and I turned around and walked away slowly as they took joker from out the room.I guess to me the joker didn't seem as much of a terrible person to me as he did to others. He seemed like a person who was completely lost in his own head, and in a small way he seemed a bit sensitive. I wonder if apart of me finds him fascinating because apart of me feels lost too.
