CAMS POV
"That was perfect, Cameron!" Claire clapped as I walked off the gossip show's stage.
I looked up at her, "I feel terrible." I had trapped myself in my flat for the last four days until this morning when Claire came to my door and reminded me I had an interview.
"I know, I'm sorry it's not the way you wanted it to be but-"
"But what? You've done enough damage as it is." I crossed my arms and slowly turned away.
"You know this wasn't my idea, right, Cam?" Claire mentioned as I walked towards the exit.
I turned my head, "Yeah, but you're still supporting it." I walked out the door and my driver took me home.
When I got home, I got a text from Claire saying that I had a meeting with the TopShop board members about my "plan" for the future. I closed my eyes and imagined the meeting: a group of young men and women in fashionable suits deciding all my life choices like who I was to date, hangout with, and talk to.
I watched old reruns of Friends until Claire knocked on my door telling me it was time to go.
The meeting was just about everything I imagined it being. We sat around a large oval table, with Clair and I at the ends. Somehow, somebody came up with two of my high school year books and they looked through the pictures of people through grade 10 to 12. They talked and pointed and put sticky notes on the next possible victims of their little game. Not one yearbook was passed to me until the very end when they had decided the boy who would break my heart.
Collin O'Brien.
"No. Not him." I stared at the picture of the brown haired boy.
"Why not? You didn't date him before, did you? You cannot, and I mean CANNOT have history with this boy." An executive lady announced.
I nodded my head slowly and memories flooded into my mind.
~flashback~
I could barely pay attention to what my teacher was saying because all my attention was drawn to Niall, sitting across the room.
It was the day of our first date and I couldn't help but imagine all the possible outcomes of our date.
The phone rang, snapping me out of my daydream.
"I have to take a quick visit to the office. So I want you all to read chapters 4-6 of Night," she headed to the door, "and quietly." She added closing the door behind her.
After everyone was sure she was gone, we started to chat with our neighbours.
Suddenly everyone turned their heads to Collin, who had been talking loud enough for the whole class to hear. "So, Horan. I hear you asked out Cameron, huh?"
Everyone looked at Niall, "Um, ye-yes."
"You know you don't deserve her, she's way out of your league." Collin cracked his knuckles. My heart was pounding. Why did Collin always have to do this to Niall?
"Uh, um-well uh-"
Collin interrupted, "I thought I told you she was mine."
I was speechless.
Niall didn't answer.
'Say something, Niall' I prayed in my head.
"She's not, she's mine." He looked up.
"You think so? Then why isn't she saying anything?" Collin dryly laughed.
Both his and my face turned red.
