"Attack!" Lilykit burst out of the nursery and jumped on her sister, Owlkit. Owlkit jumped in shock and ran to the nursery. Lilykit sighed.
"It's a game Owlkit." Lilykit called to her sister. Owlkit didn't move. She looked around for a more fun playmate. Her gaze stopped when she saw Sunkit. Lilykit raced forward and tackled Sunkit. She was delighted when he started to play fight with her. Lilykit felt a weight crash on her. She panicked and flailed around.
"Ha ha I got you!" Lionkit cheered. Lilykit and Sunkit looked at each other and then pounced on Lionkit. His cheering turned into wailing when they landed on him. Owlkit nervously stepped out of the nursery.
"Don't hurt him." Lilykit heard her sisters soft mew.
"We aren't going to hurt him. We're just playing." Lilykit rolled her eyes. Owlkit is just to shy to play any games.
"I certainly hope you weren't planning on hurting your brother Lilykit." She spun around and saw her father, Grassheart towering over her.
"I'm not going to." She mewed. She looked behind her father and saw elders laying in the warm green leaf sun. Jasperpaw and Sparrowpaw were sharing tongues beside the Apprentice den. Her eyes lit up. I'm going to sleep in there one day! The nursery entrance moved and she saw Olivekit and Swanshine walk into the clearing. Grassheart followed her gaze as it landed on Olivekit.
"Go play little one." Grassheart's purr rumbled as he turned and walked into the nursery, giving a nod to Swanshine, he disappeared into the ferns.
"Kits why don't you go listen to one of the elders stories. Doesn't that sound like fun!" Swanshine mewed cheerfully. Lilykit didn't want to hear a story.
"But I want to play!" She whined. Swanshine looked at her sternly.
"On second thought I'd love to hear a story. Come on!" Lilykit knew better than to argue with Swanshine. Owlkit nervously walked over to the elders den.
"Lionkit why don't we do something else." She whispered to her brother.
"You heard Swanshine." Lionkit replied.
"Why don't we play leader! I'm Lilystar of Lilyclan!" She mewed excited for the new game.
"I'm Lionstar of Lionclan!" Lionkit said.
"My deputy will be... Mintfur!" The elder turned as she heard her name.
"I'm honoured to be your deputy Lilystar." Mintfur said dipping her head to the young kit.
"Well my deputy is Rainwhisker!" Lionkit looked at Rainwhisker.
"I'd love to be your deputy but I have a patrol to go on Lionkit." Rainwhisker mewed.
"Can we come?" Lilykit asked. The game was forgotten in a second. I'm going to be the best warrior ever!
"Maybe when you're apprentices." Rainwhisker told them. He called Jasperpaw, Sparrowpaw and Snowbreeze then left the camp.
"Kits! Come back to the nursery it's getting dark!" Rainstorm called. Owlkit ran to her mother's side. Lilykit and Lionkit followed. Lionkit lay down and almost automatically fell asleep. Owlkit curled up beside Rainstorm.
"I'm going to be leader one day Rainstorm!" Lilykit bragged.
"Not if I beat you to it!" Sunkit mewed.
"When I'm leader, I'll make you deputy Sunkit." She promised. Lilykit yawned.
"Go to sleep, Lilykit." Rainstorm's soft mew made her feel safe and warm.
"Rainstorm, when can I be leader?" She asked sleepily.
"When you are a big brave warrior. For now you are a kit, little one." Her mother told her as she wrapped her tail around Lionkit and pulled him closer to her belly.
"Goodnight Rainstorm." Lilykit said before falling asleep.
"Goodnight my beautiful kit."
