Chapter 3

"I told you, you shouldn't have gone out." Lilykit reminded her brother when he entered camp with a furious Appleglow.
"Yeah, yeah I get it." Lionkit grumbled.
Olivekit hadn't returned yet. She was starting to get worried. What if a fox caught him! As if reading her mind Lionkit mewed.
"Olivekit is stronger than you think he wouldn't be beaten that quickly." Lilykit relaxed. Lionkit is right, Olivekit is strong for a kit. But that didn't comfort her. There was yowling outside but one yowl was louder than the others.
"Olivekit where were you!" Yelled Swanshine. The kits ran outside to see Olivekit with a tiny fish in his jaws. He set the fish down.
"Hunting." He replied simply without a care in the world. Lilykit was impressed that he had caught something.
"What is all the yowling about!" Icestar yelled. The leader jumped onto the large rock in the middle of the camp. The camp went silent as they saw their leader.
"Olivekit went hunting and caught a fish!" Lilykit mewed admiringly. Olivekit looked at her and nodded his thanks.
"Olivekit, since you decided to disobey the warrior code, you are not becoming an apprentice for another moon as well as Lionkit." Icestar stared down at the two kits with disappointment.
"I want to wait with my brother!" Sunkit yowled from the nursery entrance and ran to nuzzle his brother. Olivekit gave him a lick between the ears.
"Sunkit, it is not your punishment. You don't have to wait." Icestar told the golden kit. Lilykit watched the whole thing in shock. Lionkit isn't going to be an apprentice for another moon! She was glad she didn't go with them, but she was sad that her brother was being punished.
"I want to wait, Icestar. It is my apprenticeship and I wish to spend it with my brother." Sunkit lifted his chin and proudly mewed to the leader. Lilykit admired his confidence. He spoke like he was just talking to another kit and not the clan leader. She expected Icestar to be furious at the kit.
"Very well. If you wish to be a kit for longer, then you shall stay at kit. I admire your loyalty to your brother Sunkit." Icestar mewed respectfully. Lilykit's mouth opened in shock. The leader respects him and he is only a kit!
"I have better news for three apprentices." Icestar's voice echoed through the camp. Jasperpaw, Sparrowpaw and Brightpaw looked at each other with joy.
"I, Icestar, leader of Riverclan call my warrior ancestors to look upon these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the way of your noble code. do you promise to protect and defend this clan even at the cost of your lives?"
"I do." The apprentices mewed in unison.
"Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior names. Jasperpaw from this moment on you shall be known as Jasperheart. Starclan honours your strength and quick thinking. Sparrowpaw from this moment on you shall be know as Sparrowleaf. Starclan honours your loyalty and intelligence. Brightpaw from this moment on you shall be known as Brightcloud. Starclan honours your patience and determination. We welcome you as full warriors of Riverclan!" Icestar announced.
"Jasperheart! Sparrowleaf! Brightcloud! Jasperheart! Sparrowleaf! Brightcloud!" The clan cheered the new warriors names into the night. That's going to be me one day! I'm going to be a warrior!
