Chapter 9

As the patrol neared camp Jasperheart and Brightcloud went with Echomist to make sure Icestar knew they were bringing a kit. She could hear Pixie whimpering and nothing she tried to say made the kit feel better. When they reached camp she let Pixie walk beside her. Pixie saw all the cats waiting in the clearing and hid under Lilypaw's belly. Lilypaw gave a small purr.
"It's all right,Pixie. They won't hurt you." She whispered to the kit. Pixie didn't move. Lilypaw sighed and nudged the white ball of fur forward. Pixie took a deep breath then walked into the clearing with Lilypaw by her side. Icestar was on the Tallstone waiting for the patrol to find a spot. Lilypaw didn't want to leave Pixie so she sat with her near the front of the gathered cats.
"As you may have noticed, a patrol has returned and they brought a kit back with them." Icestar calmly told the clan. The clan murmured in shock until they were silenced. "Sparrowleaf has agreed to feed her and take care of her. But there is still her name. Her name shall be,"
"No!" The clan turned and looked at the little kit."No. My name is Pixie." She mewed to the leader. All Icestar did was nod.
"Pixie would it be okay if you took the clan name of Pixiekit?" Icestar asked Pixie. Pixie nodded and looked up at Lilypaw and whispered. "I am Pixiekit."
"You are all dismissed." Icestar mewed as she jumped off the Tallstone. Lilypaw watched the leader go into Echomist's den, but at the last second Icestar glanced back at Lilypaw and smiled at the apprentice and kit. Then she disappeared into the fern den.
"Pixiekit, you should go and meet Sparrowleaf." Jasperheart mewed to Pixiekit.
"If Sparrowleaf is my new mother, does that mean you are my father?" Pixiekit asked the brown warrior.
"I guess it does." Jasperheart purred. Lilypaw left Pixiekit to bond with her new family. Adderkit and Skykit tumbled out of the nursery and raced over to Pixiekit. Pixiekit slapped Adderkit away when he got to close. "I'm so sorry. You just scared me." Pixiekit apologized. Lilypaw purred and walked over to the dirtplace. As she passed the medicine den, she heard Echomist and Icestar talking quietly. Curious, she crouched beside the den and listened.
"Have you thought about the prophecy?" Icestar whispered. "Yes I have. I have also got news." Echomist whispered back. "The sun will force peace by bringing death. Only the frost, who's bite as cold as ice can stop the sun." Lilypaw stepped back, shocked. Does she mean Sunpaw? She raced to the apprentice den and sat in her nest to think about what she just heard. Owlpaw! Her sister was really close with Sunpaw. Is Owlpaw in danger?
