Lilypaw stepped back in shock at what she had just heard. She felt her eyes harden with rage. She barged into the den and started yowling at her father.
"IF YOU REALLY WISH THAT I WASN'T YOUR DAUGHTER THEN FINE! I DON'T WANT A USELESS FOX HEART FOR A FATHER!" She spat at the large tom with venom seeping out of her words. Littlefoot and Grayheart stood frozen in shock. Grassheart had anger mixed with sadness clouding his amber eyes. Icestar stood up quickly and blocked Grassheart from Lilypaw.
"Move." Grassheart's voice was low and deadly. Icestar stood her ground.
"Move." Grassheart repeated louder. Icestar didn't move a muscle.
"Now Grassheart we both now that's not going to happen." Icestar mewed coolly. Grassheart hissed then pushed past the black she cat. He looked at Lilypaw with fire burning in his eyes. Lilypaw's anger vanished and a deep sorrow filled her from ears to tail. Her tail drooped and brushed the ground.
"Don't feel sorry for yourself. You did this yourself." Icestar didn't offer any sympathy. "Get out of my den. Tell your mother and Echomist I wish to speak with them." Lilypaw nodded and left the den with Grayheart and Littlefoot behind her. She told Rainstorm and Echomist then sat outside her den. Brightcloud came into camp and sent Adderpaw to the fresh kill pile. Brightcloud padded up to Lilypaw.
"What's wrong with you?" Brightcloud asked tilting her head. Lilypaw sighed and told her friend the whole thing, starting with the fox attack.
"Wow. Does Grassheart know you didn't mean to hurt them?" Brightcloud gently asked. Lilypaw shook her head.
"I don't really want to talk with him right now." Lilypaw sighed and put her head on her paws. Brightcloud didn't like seeing Lilypaw like this.
"Well this might cheer you up, Duskflower has moved to the nursery expecting Grayheart's kits." Brightcloud mewed happily. Lilypaw just shrugged. Brightcloud looked disappointed.
"Well umm, I don't really know how to help you so I'll just leave you alone for now." Brightcloud turned away, but looked over her shoulder back at Lilypaw. Lilypaw saw worry and sadness in her silver friend's eyes. Lilypaw instantly felt guilty.
What is wrong with me? Kits are good news and Brightcloud loves telling me about kits.
