I groan as my alarm clock goes off playing some random radio station. I'm tempted to fling my hand onto the snooze button but I know I have to get up. I slowly get out of bed trying to savor the warmth of the bed that I have to leave. Today is my first day of school. My family recently moved here because of my mom's job. We are getting more money now but we had to leave everything behind. I walk to the bathroom to get ready. I brush my teeth and move on to my hair. I brush my long silver hair that flows to the middle of my back. I put it up in a high ponytail and walk out of my room to put on my clothes for the day.

Once I've put on my shirt and skirt I walk downstairs to eat my breakfast. My mom has made me a bowl of Frosted Flakes. I really like their cereal but their commercials are stupid. I grab a spoon and start eating. When I finish I put my bowl and spoon in the sink and grab my back pack. The school, Stone Ridge, is kind of weird. It's both middle and high school, the grades go from 6th to 12th rather than having a middle school, 6th through 8th, and a high school, 9th through 12th. Anyway, as I walk to school cars pass by and nothing interesting really happens. About five minutes after I left my house I reach the school. I honestly think it's amazing how we were able to get a house right next to the school. I look at my phone, pulling it out of the pocket in my bag. It's 7:20, school starts at 7:45. Nobody but the teachers are here right now. Perfect. I walk in the two large glass doors to talk to the principle to get my schedule and locker combo.
After getting my schedule I walk around with the principle meeting all my new teachers. My first period was social studies, second science, third chorus, fourth English, fifth math, sixth gym, seventh art. My social studies teacher was a nice middle aged woman. She told me her name was Mrs. Douglas but that most people call her Mrs. D. My science teacher was a seemingly nice woman named Mrs. Mason. Third my Chorus teacher was named Mr. Boone which kinda made me laugh. Fourth, Mrs. Young for English. Fifth, for math Mr. Arthur. For some reason he wanted to go by his first name rather than his last. Sixth, was PE with Mr. Holland and lastly Art with Mrs. Savanna. Then the principle showed me to my locker and gave me my code. I practice putting my code in a couple times before stuffing my backpack in the locker along with my lunch and extra pencils. The hallways were littered with little eraser caps and a pencil or two here and there. I was starting in the middle of the year so it's no big surprise. The principle looks embarrassed for the messiness of the halls and gives an awkward chuckle. I look up at him and softly ask if I could go to the library. I practically lived in my old school library I read so much. He gives me an okay and we walk towards the library.
When we get into the library I look around in awe. The library isn't that big but it holds many more books than my old school did. The librarian chuckles and my awe and I snap out my reverie, blush, and look at my shoes. I look towards the librarian.
"May I check out a few books?" I ask her shyly.
"Sure hon." She responds still softly laughing. I blush again and walk towards the fiction section. As I was walking towards the fiction section I passed the historical fiction section. One book caught my eye. It was called
"The Girl in the Blue Coat" it was a book cast in World War Two. Or to be more exact, 1943 Amsterdam. I read the summary on the inside of the cover and was immediately interested. I walk up to the counter, book in hand. I put it on the counter and wait for the librarian to check it out. She asks for my name."Kohanna, Fuyuko" I respond quietly.
"Fuyuko, means 'child of the winter' in English, correct?" She asks me.
"Yes ma'am," I say looking at her. She finishes checking out my book and stamps a little sheet on the back that shows when it needs to be returned. As I leave I call out over my shoulder . "Aragato!"
