After lunch, I returned to the visible world and continued going to my classes. Though, by 1:30, about and hour and a half before school let up, my head was pounding and I would have dizzy flashes every times I moved quickly. Eventually I raised my hand and went to the nurses office. The teacher had some one help me to the nurses office. He then asked for volunteers and one boy immediately stuck his hand up while almost jumping out of his seat. Through my glazed vision, I assumed the boy was a little older than me because the councilor changed my classes since I had already learned the lessons people my age were learning. He was pale very pale and had brown hair but that's about all I could discern in my dizzy, entranced state. After a few minutes of me stumbling down the hall and tripping, almost dragging The Boy with me a few times, he finally just picked me up and carried me to the nurses office.
At one point the motions stopped and quite chatter filled my ears. I cracked my eyes open and looked up to see a tall young male chatting with The Boy before closing my eyes again. After what could've been five minutes or two hours, The Boy started moving again and the next time I head noise other than The Boy's shoes clacking on the tiled floor, we were at the nurses office.
The Boy put me down on one of the sterilized beds and went to another one of the beds where a prone figure was lying. He sat down by the person's head and ran his fingers through their long hair (at least I think it was hair) as their whispering filled my ears."Who's the person you brought in?" The long haired person asked in a weak voice.
"Some girl from my science class. She needed help to get to the nurses office and I thought, hey two birds with one stone." The Boy replied. The person he was talking to didn't reply back.
The nurse ended up leaving the room to get something and the The Boy started talking louder. My head gave a particularly strong pound and I groaned before shifting a little to put my arm over my face. The two became quiet for all of two minutes before starting the talk to each other again albeit, quieter than before. After some time the nurse returned with a glass of water and a couple of pills outstretched in her hand.
"Here Kohanna. This isn't your usual pill but it might help a little for the time being." The nurse whispered to me, aware of my pounding headache. I slowly sat up, leaning against the wall behind me and took the pills and the water from the nurse. Well, I tried to take the water but the cup slipped out of my hand and splattered in the floor, the cup bouncing first then rolling away. I stared at the red polo cup, still rolling slightly, on the floor. The nurse sighed. "Nathan, get over here. You'll have to hold the cup for her." The B- well I guess his name is Nathan, came over and sat by me on the bed while the nurse refilled the cup. The nurse then put the pills in my mouth (how embarrassing) while Nathan pushed the cup of water to my lips. I swallowed the pills and stared blankly at the wall, waiting for the painkillers to kick in. (My father had left some with the nurse just for this very reason.)
"What's wrong with her?" I heard The B- Nathan ask.
"I'm not quite sure what the extent of it is," The nurse said, not really sure how much info to give out to the eleventh grader, "But it has something to do with her magic. Kind of like you and your sister, I think."
I turned and looked at The Boy. "Thank you for helping me The Boy." I told him before gently lowering myself onto the bed again and closing my eyes.I woke up after what felt like hours, turning out to be only about twenty minutes. My head was still pounding but it had lessened to that of an annoying throb you feel when you get a bruise. I rubbed my eyes and sat up slowly. I looked to The Boy and what I now saw to be the girl from my first period class on a bed across the room. The girl was now sitting up and staring at me as well as The Boy. I glanced at The Boy but was more focused on Katsura.
"Katsura, you can smell the danger at this school, right?" Both Katsura's and The Boy's eyes widened. The Boy quickly turned to Katsura to say something, but she cut him off.
"How do you know about that?" She asked. I tapped my forehead before asking my question again.
"What the hell do you mean your head?" The Boy asks."Nathan, can you and the Nurse step out for a few minutes?"
"Hell no! I'm your brother and I deserve to know what the fucking hell is going on!" The Boy yelled. The nurse then grabbed him under the arms and dragged him out of the room. Katsura then turned to me.
"What did you mean when you pointed at your head and how did you know I could smell the danger here?" She asked, looking at me with suspicion."I'm sorry, I didn't mean to but I can't control my telepathy so when my pills wear off I can hear people's thoughts without wanting to. Also, I kind of forgot my pills somewhere and couldn't take them so when you were thinking about it during first period, I could hear it." She looked at me sharply.
"Do you know what's up? Why it's so dangerous here?"
"Kind of. I thought you might know something so I wanted to tell you, I just didn't know how." I told her.
She sighed and rubbed her temple.
"Well, lets go get my brother and figure this crazy stuff out." With that, she walked out of the room to find her brother.
