Scared. That was one way to describe what Niall was feeling, standing outside the two storey house he had grown up in. It wasn't particularly big or fancy but it was everything he had ever needed, but right now, as he stared at the building in front of his eyes, all he could feel was dread and regret.

Maybe if he had picked up Greg's phone calls and constant texts, begging him to just talk to him once, things might've been different. Because Greg would've made sure, he would have made damn sure that no more shame came towards Niall, to harm him and effect him in the way everything was these days. It was as if everything was out to get him and the blonde just couldn't take it anymore.

Some people might disagree though. They might say that he has everything in life. He might've been made a fool in school and he might've gotten some judgmental remarks here and there for the way he dressed but other than that, wasn't everything just fine? Because that's how people who didn't know him, thought of his life. He had a loving family, he had a caring friend named Harry Styles, he even had Zayn - the man he might be hopelessly in love with. And wasn't he just the definition of pretty? With feminine curves in all the right places, a nice wardrobe filled with everything he ever wanted. So everything was perfect from the outside, except, it wasn't really like that.

Every second Niall had stayed home at night, crying because he couldn't just take it anymore. The comments - though small and irrelevant - hurt him more than they should've. The fact that his own best mate, the one person he trusted with everything in him, was a liar, affection Niall to his deepest core. And Zayn, the perfect and loving Zayn, didn't even have time for him anymore. It wasn't that they were never together or anything. Zayn was always in bed with him when they went to sleep but rather than cuddling like what they did before, a distance was created between them. A wall that both him and Zayn had built up. For reasons of their own.

Taking shaky breath, the blonde pressed the button for ringing the bell, patiently hoping that his father wouldn't be home. He could listen to Maura's nagging and even take her anger but he couldn't do the same with his father. Every word Bobby said was always hurting him way too deeply and it just scarred him more. It was weird. How even though he was always more with his mother, it was Bobby who affected him more.

"Niall." The soft, familiar voice calling out his name so tenderly, snapped the blonde to the present. He ran a hand through his hair, pushing them out of his forehead only for them to fall back there before sighing loudly, as he stared wide eyed at Greg, who looked both tired and gloomy. Niall had a hunch as to what that happened, Greg had hinted it and really, that was all Niall needed to dread coming back home. "Come inside. Mum's in the living room."

The blonde nodded his head, already feeling the tears pricking his eyes. He tugged on his wristband, staring down at his feet as he walked the path across the long corridors with unconscious steps. Niall tugged his shirt closer to his body, feeling undeniably cold as Greg opened the door towards the living room, where their mother sat, staring at the TV as a very familiar scene played in front of Niall's eyes.

"Mum..." The blonde cried out, frowning when Maura raised a hand to silence her son. He knew this was coming. It was all over school and considering Greg had known about it already, it shouldn't even surprise him that his mother had seen this happening. It was just so wrong and so damn unfair. It wasn't even him in the video, for crying out loud.

"That's not you." Maura spoke out suddenly, pausing the CD that was playing and getting up from the couch. She took careful steps to approach Niall, not wanting to alarm the poor child who looked like a little rabbit, a rabbit in the fear of being hunted or caught. "I know that's not you." The older female spoke, reaching a hand to cup her son's cheeks and wipe the tears falling down his eyes.

"It came in the mail today morning." Greg spoke.

"Is that why you left school?" Maura's words were careful but somehow, the kindness and the sheer love in them, made Niall choke on a sob. He nodded his head, watching his mother's eyes fill with tears of her own and from the corner of his eye, he could see Greg clenching his fists as he stared at the LCD TV. It made him happy, it really did, to know that his family had faith in him because if they didn't, Niall would honestly have nothing left.

"Do you have any idea who did this, Ni?" Niall quickly averted his gaze towards his older brother, arms wrapping loosely around his mother's waist as he leaned down, feeling a bit glad that he wasn't shorter than Maura at least, considering he was shorter than everyone else he had ever met in his entire life.

"L-Liam Payne." The name felt like acid on his tongue, making him remember the time when Liam was, what Niall would back then gladly call, the most perfect boyfriend ever. He made him happy, he made him smile and blush like a school girl and he was the person Niall felt might be worthy of all his love and dedication. The love of his life.

"Do you know where he lives?" Niall nodded his head at Greg's question, feeling Maura's hold tighten around him.

"What are you going to do?" Greg smirked a little at the question, raising his eyes to meet his mother's and smiled.

"We're going to call the fucking cops on the brat and show him that nobody fucks with my little brother." And for the first time in a while, Niall felt safe.

...

Everything was spinning and everything felt good. As Zayn watched the crowd in front of him scream loudly in excitement at the change in the music and the tempo, he couldn't help but grin. With a shake of his head, he exited the dance floor, loving the way his sweat drenched T-shirt clung to his body. It was a celebration day for him and he was excited for the news he would soon deliver to the precious blonde back at his home.

He still couldn't believe he had made it so far. That he had done so much in a span of a few mere days. More than that, he felt like he was ready to confess. Everything felt so right and perfect. He didn't want to waste another moment, desperately wanting to just be in Niall's heart and surrounded by his heat. That would have to wait though, just for a little while. Until everything was set and prepared.

"Malik!" A loud male voice screamed over the music, causing a few heads to turn around and Zayn just grinned, during towards the small room in the far corner. "Get in here."

And he did, as a result of which thirty five minutes later, the tanned man was lying head down towards the toilet seat, puking his guts out with a loud groan. He felt sick to his stomach and everything was just so dizzy. His hand was hurting a bit with all the needle marks, them all being unprofessional at it a bit and his throat felt just so dry and vile.

Quickly getting up from the floor he had crouched down on, Zayn flushed the toilet, not noticing the heavy amount of blood that was there and turned towards the sink, quickly washing his mouth and face, before struggling to get his jacket on just so he could go back to the pretty blonde who was definitely waiting for him back home. Looking so pretty and tempting. Zayn couldn't wait.

He was reckless but he was in love.
