"I don't like him." Niall frowned at the random statement his best friend passed just the very instant they had entered the school premises. He was really planning on skipping today, or just ignoring Louis the way he had been. There was no longer a reason for his actions, he just felt like he had to do it. That he had to act like a complete ass with his best mate.

"There was a time when you were encouraging me to get it on with Liam and now suddenly you don't like him anymore?" The blonde scoffed, eyeing his best friend. He had known Louis since forever and that just gave him all the more reason to talk a bit rudely to the brunette. He knew that Louis would let it slide, he always let things slide for Niall's sake and the blonde in question knew how to take advantage of that. With bored eyes, he analysed the clothes Louis was wearing. A rather old grey jumper and his signature ripped skinny jeans. He had taken his shoes of during their walk to the hell hole they call school, complaining about how his feet were dying to be joined to the Earth. Niall simply rolled his eyes at his friend's childish antics.

"That was before and this is now. I don't like him very much right now. He's stealing you from me." The brunette visibly pouted causing the air of tension that had settled between then to evaporate. Niall grinned at Louis, it was a rather grim one but it was still there. Removing the creases from his white shirt and after eyeing himself up in the marble floors, Niall finally continued the walk towards their lockers, frowning a bit when he didn't notice Liam standing there the way he always did.

"He isn't stealing me from you. I just - I don't know why but I don't feel like myself these days. I feel a bit - trapped, I guess," The words were hard to get out, they felt foreign on his tongue but he never hid things from Louis. The brunette was the only one who knew about everything, he probably knew Niall better than the blonde knew himself. There was a bond you see, between the two. Louis had never once let Niall get hurt, he made sure to keep all the bad boys away and keep Niall safe from all the bullies and the cold harsh words of the people but there was only so much one person could do and Niall understood that, he knew that he would've have to learn how to survive all on his own. He couldn't depend on Louis forever.

"Have you - are you taking your medicines on time?" The panic stricken tone in Louis' voice was enough to have Niall sighing loudly. He groaned, slumping on the red lockers as his eyes trailed towards the students in the hallways. They were all so happy and just, frightening you could say. They acted like they knew it all, as if the world was theirs to own.

"I am. Don't worry about it. Zayn is taking me out today," Niall quickly switched the subject, smiling widely towards his best friend, just to reassure him.

"What about Liam?" Louis questioned, pushing his books inside the locker and slamming it shut. He took the time to rake his eyes over Niall's short frame. He was dressed extremely casual, way too casual for Louis's liking. The older of the two was so used to seeing the blonde in mini skirts or booty shorts, and those frilled tops or just his signature crop tops that this new attire, a rather simple and casual one, was disconcerting him.

"I don't know where Liam is. But either ways, we didn't make any plans together. He has to stay back for his boxing practices. He's supposed to be representing the school in the match," Niall rolled his eyes. There was one thing that he didn't get about Liam Payne. The man was too much into violence. Boxing was a tough sport and even though Niall had gone there to see Liam practicing and hell, he had even see the real deal on the rink, he still didn't like it. Especially not when Liam ended up getting hurt.

"Are you going to the matches? Be his little cheerleader? I'll even get you some pompoms and you already have a cheerleader outfit in your closet." Louis chuckled, ruffling the blonde's hair up. He was still worried about Niall but he knew that rushing things with him won't get him anywhere. Niall was the kind of person who did things at his own pace and level. Which is probably why Louis was confused about where the entire Niall, Zayn and Liam thing was going. Sure , he had been the one who suggested the idea of meeting Zayn but never in his wildest dreams had he thought of Niall establishing a potential friendship with the Pakistani whilst dating Liam Payne. He didn't dare question anything though.
