Niall took a deep breath, tugging on his shirt's buttons before reaching for the door bell. He bit the inside of his cheek, trying to prevent himself from screaming loudly in frustration. It was rather weird, to be back to the one place where he thought he would never get the chance to step foot ever again, mostly because the only relationship that got him coming back to this two floor house, was pretty much over.

As he shuffled back and forth on the feet, the door to the house opened, revealing a face that he hadn't seen for weeks.

"Hey Louis," The blonde sighed, reaching out his hand to wrap them around the slightly taller lad's neck and bring his body forth into a tight hug. For some reason, it felt different to be hugging his ex best mate now because rather than feeling repulsed or even a bit disgusted, Niall just felt normal. As if he was hugging a person he had known but not overly well. It was weird but the blonde was grateful that it was nothing too dramatic.

"I didn't think you would ever come back here again," The feathery brunette sniffed, rubbing his runny nose from the back of the sleeves of his shirt. He quickly scooted to the side, allowing Niall to step inside so he could close the door, prevent the chilly air from coming inside and worsening his health.

"I just came here to check up on you. Harry was rather worried." Niall spoke truthfully, taking in the way the familiar house looked. Nothing had changed from the last time he had visited the place. It was still the same place, with the messy table covered with all sorts of fruits and canned meals, the couch still had a bunch of Ernest and Doris's picture books and what not lying on them. The small blonde smiled to himself, walking up the stairs and over to where he knew Louis's room was situated.

"He's a good friend - Harry, I mean. He talks rather fondly of you and he even told me off for being a bitch to you," Louis smiled, his dull blue eyes stared at Niall's bright ones and his smiled dimmed. "I really am sorry for what I did. I don't know why I did it either. He was just there and it felt like love but I don't think I'm allowed to do such things like cheating on my best friend, all in the name of love."

"I'm over it Louis. Let's not dig the past up. What's done is done," Niall smiled back, tightly. There were a million things he had to say and they were just at the tip of his tongue, waiting to come out but he stopped himself from doing so.

"I suppose. So we're cool?" Louis's eyes widened in hopes of getting his best mate back and maybe everything won't be the same anymore because Niall was hurt, he was still shaken up with everything that had happened in his life but it didn't mean that he would just let a friend go. And sure, Louis had a lot to make up for, he did several wrong things but with time, Niall could maybe learn to forgive him or maybe they both could learn things from one another and move on. So with that, the Irishman smiled, reaching a hand out from his brunette friend to shake.

"We're cool."

...

"I really didn't think it was anything serious which is why I delayed coming here," Zayn cursed his luck, leaning back onto the uncomfortable chair as a lady in white coat took a sample of his blood in a small tube, grinning widely as if to reassure the Pakistani that everything was going to be fine. He didn't believe those smiles though and in all honesty, hospitals made him sick to the stomach.

"That's alright. Only your test results will determine whether you made a mistake in not coming to us early or not," The doctor smiled, reaching for a small pad to write down the medication she was planning on prescribing to Zayn. "So tell me, you've been suffering from haemoptysis and having random coughing fits and feeling rather dizzy and nauseous, right?"
